Findlay MacRae
Head Coach
MacRae has led his team to several CIS Top Ten rankings. In 2015, MacRae was named the AUS Coach of the Year. This past season, the Axemen finsihed third in the AUS standings with a 6-2-5 record. The third place finish was the highest finish since the return of the soccer program in 2005. The Axemen knocked off Dalhousie in the quarterfinal matchup and then lost to the eventual AUS champion UNB. In the summer of 2014, as head coach of the Valley Premeire Club, Findlay's team finished first in the standings and was named the 2014 Nova Scotia Soccer League Coach of the Year. Over the last 10 years, MacRae has been involved in the local soccer community serving most recently as the head coach of the Valley United men's Premiere where his teams finished as finalists. His Canadian soccer roots began in Truro as a player with the Nova Scotia Agriculture College soccer club. MacRae moved his soccer interests towards coaching, acting as a co-coach with the NSAC squad in 1985-86 following his four years as player. He also played with Tier 1 Valley teams in the summer during this time. From 1986 to 1989, MacRae established a Truro Senior team that participated in the Nova Scotia Senior Mens League 1st Division. He was responsible for developing the new team and for all coaching and training duties. Living in the Annapolis Valley, MacRae was a player-coach for the Kentville Kings Arms senior mens club of the NSSL 1st Division. In 2000, he was appointed as the Head Coach of the Valley United senior mens team that also participated in the NSSL 1st Division. Findlay has obtained Part One of the Canadian Soccer Association "B" License.
