Brooke DeRosa

Coach

Brooke DeRosa was named as the seventh head coach of the Adelphi University women's soccer team on April 30, 2015, and just finished up her tenth year in 2024. In her first three seasons, DeRosa helped lead the program to new heights, which included its first Northeast-10 Conference Championship title and three total berths in the NCAA Tournament, including a pair of appearances in the NCAA Division II East Region finals. Named the NE10 Coach of the Year by her peers in her first season, when her team claimed both the regular season and tournament titles in the conference, DeRosa and the Panthers posted a 19-game unbeaten streak, before making their deepest run in the NCAA Tournament since finishing as national runner-ups in 2004. In 2024, DeRosa was named the NE10 Coach of the Year for the second time her career after leading the Cats to a near perfect 9-1 conference record and a regular season title. Kayleigh Goodrich was honored as the Northeast 10 Player of the Year and earned All-America recognition while eight Panthers landed on all-conference teams. Adelphi reached a national ranking as high as #4 during the season. It was in 2023 when the 'Cats nearly matched that historic finish. A 14-game unbeaten streak laid the path for an appearance in both the NE10 Championship and NCAA Division II East Region Championship finals -- the latter of which culminated in Kayla Mushorn's title-clinching penalty in a shootout that eventually catapulted the Panthers to the Final Four of the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship for the first time in twenty years. In 2022, the Panthers ended a five-year absence from the NCAA Tournament. With the NE10 Player and Rookie of the Year in Madison Apicella, Adelphi appeared in its first NE10 Championship final since 2015. The Brown and Gold knocked off two nationally-ranked opponents -- including a double-overtime victory at Franklin Pierce in the NE10 semis -- en route to posting a 12-6-2 record. Prior to arriving at Adelphi, DeRosa spent two seasons as an assistant coach at St. John’s University. During that time, she helped the Red Storm to appearances in the Big East Tournament semifinals and an NCAA berth in 2013, where the program notched its first ever NCAA Tournament win over the University of Central Florida, 3-1. Before her stint with the Red Storm, DeRosa was an assistant coach at her alma mater, Hofstra University, where she was an All-American in 2007. DeRosa also served as head women's soccer coach at Nassau Community College from 2011-12. During her one year at Nassau, she coached the Lions to an 8-5-3 record and saw eight players earn All-Region XV honors, including five first-team selections. DeRosa’s playing career began at Syracuse, where she was a Big East All-Rookie selection in 2002 as a midfielder/defender. DeRosa played three years with the Orange, before transferring back to Long Island to play at Hofstra. During her one season with Hofstra, she was moved to forward and helped the Pride to an 18-4 record, a Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship and a trip to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. For her efforts, DeRosa earned Third Team All-America honors from the NSCAA, was a First Team All-CAA selection, as well as a CAA All-Tournament Team member.  A local standout, DeRosa played for the Long Island Rough Riders organization from 2002-04 and 2007-12 and helped the team to a W-League Northeast Conference title in 2012. DeRosa earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in Ceramics from Syracuse University and a master of science in Art Education from Hofstra University. She currently resides in Ronkonkoma, N.Y., with her son, Keiran.  DeRosa's Year-by-Year Coaching Record 1 NE10 Championship, 8 NE10 Tournament Appearances, 4 NE10 Final Appearances, 1 NCAA East Region Championship, 6 NCAA Tournament Appearances Year -Overall- -Conference- -Notes- W-L-T Pct.
