Bio Paul Mound was appointed Head Baseball Coach at SUNY Adirondack for the 2025 season, bringing over 20 years of coaching experience and a proven track record of success at both the collegiate and high school levels. Known for his leadership, strategic vision, and ability to develop competitive teams, Mound previously served as Head Coach at Union College, where he became the all-time wins leader in the program's history. During his tenure, he built one of the most successful programs in the school's history, leading the team to multiple Liberty League Championships, NCAA Regional appearances, and several record-breaking seasons. Throughout his coaching career, Mound has been committed to not only winning on the field but also shaping well-rounded athletes. He has worked with players of all ages, from high school to collegiate athletes, and his focus has always been on player development, discipline, and instilling a love for the game. One of his notable achievements is mentoring Jake Fishman, who went on to be drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays and later played for the Miami Marlins. In addition to his college coaching experience, Mound founded, owns, and operates the Saratoga Stampede, one of the oldest and most successful summer baseball programs in the state. Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2025, the Stampede currently has 14 teams and over 180 players. Under Mound's leadership, the program has produced numerous successful athletes and developed a reputation for excellence. Mound’s education includes a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Syracuse University and Empire State College, along with a Master’s in Athletic Administration from Southern New Hampshire University, focusing on Sports Management. His coaching philosophy centers on developing strong team dynamics, teaching the fundamentals of baseball, and fostering academic excellence. Key career accomplishments include: Leading Union College to Liberty League Championships in 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2018. Setting a single-season win record with 31 victories in 2018. Coaching Union to a top-5 ranking in the NY Region for 9 of his 13 seasons. Inducted into the Amsterdam Hall of Fame and New York State Baseball Hall of Fame in 2017. Becoming the all-time wins leader in Union College baseball history. Mound also coached at Saratoga Central Catholic, Saratoga Stampede, and Lake George High School, where he developed teams into consistent contenders, leading the Saratoga Stampede to multiple state championships and a World Series title. Now at SUNY Adirondack, Mound is excited to build on the program’s history of success. His goal is to recruit top talent, create a competitive environment, and help student-athletes excel both academically and athletically. With his extensive experience and commitment to excellence, Mound is dedicated to taking the SUNY Adirondack baseball program to new heights.
