Alicia Wilson
Head Coach
Alicia Wilson, who was announced as the second Head Coach in program history on March 24, 2025, enters her first season in 2025 as Alabama State University's Head Women's Soccer Coach. Wilson brings 15 Years of coaching experience, coming to ASU after 10 seasons at Navarro College and five seasons at the University of West Florida. Wilson also had a short stint with the Jamaica Women’s Senior National Team in the 2020 Concacaf Olympic Qualifying Tournament, Edinburg, Texas, and the KR U18 in Iceland. Wilson enjoyed a decorated college and professional playing career. The 2001 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) Player of the Year was a four-time National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), NAIA All-American, and a four-time All GCAC performer at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, MS. She then spent six years playing professional in Iceland and Costa Rica and over 14 years playing on the Jamaican national team, representing the island country in qualifying tournaments and serving as team captain. Wilson graduated with a bachelor’s degree psychology from William Carey University in 2005 and was awarded her master’s degree in exercise science from the University of West Florida in 2007. Wilson is married to Oscar Lopez, who will work with the goalkeepers and defensive units. They two daughters ages 16 and 12 who also plays soccer for Sting Dallas Black in Dallas, Texas. Wasila Diwura Soale
Assistant Coach
Wasila begins her first season as an assistant coach with the Hornets. She played three seasons at LSU where she was named All-SEC Second Team following the 2022 season. She was also named to the 2022 NCAA All-Region Team. Following the 2021 season she was named to the Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll and the 2020-21 SEC First Year Academic Honor Roll. The Ghana native started 53 of the 56 matches she played in with LSU and logged over 4,000 minutes on the pitch. She scored four goals in her final season with the Tigers including one against Florida State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Before arriving in Baton Rouge, she spent time at Lamar University (2019) and at Navarro College (2017-18). She started four matches at Lamar before suffering a season-ending knee injury. In her two seasons at Navarro, she scored 30 goals and had 28 assists and helped lead Navarro to the NJCAA Tournament Quarterfinals in 2018. In international play, Diwuira-Soale was a member of Ghana’s U17 World Cup Team as Ghana won the bronze medal. She was also a member of the U20 World Cup team in 2014.
