Patrick Gayle

Head Coach

Patrick Gayle enters his 8th season as Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Albany State University. Since taking over the program in 2018, Gayle has established the Golden Rams as one of the top defensive and academically focused programs in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC). In 2020, he led Albany State to a SIAC East Division Championship and a conference tournament runner-up finish, building a reputation for tough, disciplined play and team-first basketball. His defensive units have consistently ranked among the top in NCAA Division II, and his teams have produced multiple All-SIAC selections. Coach Gayle is equally committed to success off the court. Under his leadership, the Golden Rams have excelled in the classroom and the community, earning SIAC Commissioner’s All-Academic Team honors, placing numerous student-athletes on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, and ranking first among all Division II men’s basketball teams in community service hours. Before joining Albany State, Gayle served as Head Coach at St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, Florida. Over six seasons, he compiled a 125–51 record, led the Bobcats to two Sun Conference regular-season titles, and made back-to-back NAIA National Tournament Sweet 16 appearances. He was twice named Sun Conference Coach of the Year. Gayle’s coaching background also includes assistant roles at Tiffin University (OH), Creekside High School (GA), and Nova High School (FL). A native of Brooklyn, New York, Gayle earned his bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Memphis and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Tiffin University. He has also served as a STEM Lead Math Teacher, curriculum designer, and youth mentor. Gayle is married to Sherida Gayle, and they are the proud parents of four children: Sanai, Asaya, Solomon, and Asahel.    The Gayle File Years Institution   Record 2012-2018 St. Thomas University  125-51 2018- Current Albany State University  79-109 Total  204 - 160

Adrian White

Associate Head Coach

The 2023-2024 season will mark Adrian White’s second stint as an Assistant Coach for the Albany State University Men’s Basketball program. Coach White will be involved in every aspect of the Golden Rams’ program, including recruiting, player development, and on-court teaching. Adrian will also be responsible for offensive and defensive scouting and strategy, in-game play calling, academic mentoring, administrative duties, and overseeing the student assistants. In his first season at Albany State (2019-2020), Adrian helped the men’s basketball program win 17 games, including three non-conference wins against the University of West Florida, Georgia College, and Georgia Southwestern University. The Golden Rams finished 12-7 in conference play, including wins over Morehouse (2), Clark Atlanta (2), and eventual conference tournament champions Miles College, winning the Eastern Division Championship. Albany State earned the top overall seed in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Tournament, losing to Miles College in the championship game. Under White’s mentorship, Randy McClure received All-American and All-Conference accolades for the year. White came to Albany, GA, from Miami, FL, where he coached at St. Thomas University (NAIA DII). White served two years as an assistant coach, one as a volunteer, before taking over as Interim Head Coach.  During his three years at St. Thomas, two working alongside current Albany State Head Coach Patrick Gayle, the Bobcats achieved an overall record of 54-30 and 37-15 in the Sun Conference. The Bobcats were nationally ranked every year, winning the Sun Conference regular-season championship and reaching the sweet sixteen of the NAIA DII National Tournament. White played collegiate basketball at Florida Memorial University, serving as a two-year captain and starter.  A Hollywood Hills High School graduate, in Hollywood, FL, White earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communications-Public Relations, in 2013, from Florida Memorial University.
