Titania Lester
Head Coach
Albany State welcomed Titania to the Athletic Training in July 2024. Titania Lester is a certified athletic trainer with extensive experience in high school and collegiate sports, injury assessment, rehabilitation, and sports medicine. Currently, in her second year of athletic training, Titania gained hands-on experience through rotations with the Academy for Classical Education and Mary Persons High School, where she was responsible for assessing and managing sports injuries, implementing rehabilitation protocols, applying therapeutic modalities, and ensuring medical documentation accuracy. Her expertise extends to NCAA Division I athletics through her work with Mercer University and Peach County High School, where she gained critical experience in event preparation, lower extremity evaluation, and athlete care. Titania also completed a summer immersive with Piedmont Orthopedic Complex, where she contributed to rehabilitation programs and learned about clinic operations, including billing practices. Titania holds a Master of Athletic Training from Mercer University and a Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance from Albany State University. She is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) by the American Heart Association and is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) through the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainers.

Terica Peay
Assistant Coach
Terica Peay was named the Assistant AD for Strategic Communication on April 15, 2024. Most recently, Peay served as Assistant AD for Media Relations and Gameday Coordinator. In that role, Peay consulted with various on-campus organizations such as college athletics departments on marketing initiatives, departmental structure protocols, and improvements for the student-athlete experience. Peay also served as the Assistant Director of Media Relations. She also developed procedures and policies to enhance the game day experience and the development of student engagement with content creation for athletics. "I am excited about this new opportunity and look forward to starting a new journey with Albany State. I am eager to join the team and contribute to our success through impactful work," said Peay. Her professional background includes significant roles at South Carolina State University, where she managed social media content and served as a primary statistician for various sports. "Having observed Terica's career progression for some time, her growth is not only a testament to her dedication but also highlights the significant impact of HBCUs in nurturing professionals who are ready to lead", said Dr. Kelly. "At Albany State, we're about creating legacies. I am excited to see the innovative contributions Terica will bring to our athletic programs, which will undoubtedly elevate our strategic communications to new heights." Ms. Peay holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Keller Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with a concentration in Sports Management from Johnson C. Smith University. Her professional journey includes significant roles in game day operations, sports media relations, and strategic communications planning. Terica is a native of Chester, SC. Peay is a proud member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #320 Woodstars of Bethlehem and Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity.

Frederick Suttles
Coach
Frederick E. Suttles is the Academic Advisor at Albany State University and the liaison between Admission and ASU Athletics. he also serves as the Radio Voice of the Albany State University Golden Rams Football Team. Suttles attended Albany State College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology in 1991 and later obtained a Master of Public Administration Degree from Albany State University in 2010. Suttles has been employed in the Office of Admissions since 1996; initially hired as an Admissions Recruiter, later promoted to Recruitment Coordinator, served as Interim Director for 18 months, and was eventually promoted to his current position of Associate Director. With more than 16 years of experience recruiting and admitting students, Mr. Suttles has performed nearly every task in the Office of Admissions. He currently specializes in admitting transfer students, international students, and assists in the assurance that all students are admitted according to Board of Regents Policy. He is a member of several professional organizations such as Georgia Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers (GACRAO), Regents Administrative Committee on Records and Admissions (RACRA), and Georgia Association of International Educators (GAIE). As the Radio Voice of the ASU Golden Rams Football Team, Mr. Suttles followed in the footsteps of his legendary father, the late Fred “Doc” Suttles, Jr. Suttles is married to Lisa Porter Suttles, who is also an ASU Alum. Together, they have one son, Jayden. His sister and brother, Darlene Suttles Davis and Mark A. Suttles, are also both two-time ASU graduates with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education.

Sharon Smith has served as the Ticket Coordinator for the Department of Athletics since 2004. Smith has worked in ASU's Office of Financial Operations as a staff accountant where she is responsible for Asset Management since 1998/ A native of Albany and a graduate of Dougherty High School, Smith received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Albany State University. She is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and co-leader for a local Girls Scout troop. Smith was born and reared in Albany, Georgia. She is the daughter of Eddie and Beverly Smith and has two sisters. Her favorite pastimes include reading self-improvement and awareness books, shopping, and watching news and reality shows.

Ashley Chunn- Bryant
Coach
Ashley Chunn Bryant is entering her 10th year as the Co-Head Cheerleading coach at Albany State University. Bryant, a former Golden Rams Cheerleader, served as captain during the 2011-2013 seasons. She has experience coaching at various levels, including elementary, middle school, high school, and competitive all-star cheerleading. In 2013, she established her own competitive all-star organization, the Albany Cheer Explosion. Additionally, Bryant is a certified stunt and tumbling instructor, and cheerleading is her true passion. Before her time at Albany State, Bryant cheered at Westover High School, where she earned four letters in competition cheerleading, four letters in football cheerleading, two letters in basketball cheerleading, and three letters in track and field. She served as team captain during her junior and senior years. Notably, she placed 3rd in the GHSA State pole vaulting competition in 2009 and was a participant in the concert chorale. A native of Albany, Georgia, Bryant graduated from Albany State University with a bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Mathematics Education and a minor in English. She has also obtained her Educational Leadership certification from the DCSS Academy and is currently pursuing a degree in Educational Leadership at Columbus State University. Presently, she works as an Early Intervention Teacher, assisting students who are struggling in mathematics. Bryant is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and attends Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia, under the leadership of Dr. Daniel Simmons. She is married to Pastor O. Quintodd Bryant of Sims Chapel Baptist Church in Covington, Georgia. Together, they have one child, Evan Jace, and a dog named Bayleigh.

Portia Jones

Portia Jones is entering her 10th year as the Co-Head Cheerleading Coach at Albany State University. With nearly a decade of experience, Jones is dedicated to fostering athleticism, leadership, and spirit in young athletes. After serving as an ASU Cheerleader during college, she transitioned into a coaching position to share her passion for the sport. She expresses gratitude to Dr. Stephanie Dyer and Karla Anderson for allowing her to step into such significant shoes. Before her time at Albany State, Jones attended Dougherty Comprehensive High School locally and graduated in 2005. During her time at DCHS, she was a four-year letterman in cheerleading and served as team captain in both her junior and senior years. Additionally, she was voted Miss Dougherty High and participated in the concert chorale. Committed to developing each athlete's confidence, teamwork, and discipline, Jones focuses on creating a positive and supportive environment for her cheerleaders. She believes that cheerleading is not only about stunts and routines but also about building strong character and nurturing a sense of community. Currently, Jones teaches in the Dougherty County School System. A native of Albany, GA, Jones attended Albany State University from 2005 to 2009, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree. During her time at the "Unsinkable ASU," she was also a member of the ASU Cheer Team from 2006 to 2007. Committed to furthering her education, she is currently pursuing her Master’s degree. After returning to her hometown, Jones now resides in Albany with her husband, Courtney Jones, and their three children, Zyon, Zoei, and Kamran. She is a member of the Devastating Ladies of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. and attends 3rd Kiokee Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Keith Drakes. Striving to enhance her skills, she stays up-to-date with the latest coaching techniques.
