Albertus Magnus College Men's Tennis

Migliorini is entering his sixth season as the Albertus Magnus head men's and women's tennis coach in 2016-17 as he took over the reins of the programs in the fall of 2011.  The women's team had their most successful season in school history in the fall of 2015, as the Falcons ended the year with a program-best 8-6 overall record and qualified for the GNAC Tournament as the No. 5 seed thanks to a 2-4 mark in league matches.  The eight wins were a new program record and the post-season berth in the conference tournament was the second in school history. Down the stretch, Albertus won their final two regular season matches. This year also marked just the second time in program history that the team finished with a winning percentage higher than .500. In fact, their .571 winning percentage was the best in school history. Albertus Magnus recorded two wins in GNAC play, which tied a program high achieved in 1997 and 1998. It was another successful spring for the men's tennis team in the spring of 2016, as the Falcons ended the year with a 7-4 overall record and just missed qualifying for the GNAC Tournament. Migliorini guided AMC to the second-most wins in school history. During the year, the Falcons posted a 3-1 record at home and shutout victories versus York and Mitchell.  Following the season, a pair of men's tennis players earned All-GNAC honors. The Falcons landed senior Pete Zacharias on the first team and freshman Steven Woodfield on the second team in singles. For the first time in program history, Albertus Magnus also had a major award winner with Woodfield being tabbed as the GNAC Rookie of the Year. Migliorini led the Falcons men's tennis team to its most successful season in program history in 2015 when the program finished 8-2 on the year. Migliorini led the Falcons to successful seasons in both women's and men's tennis in 2013-14 as the women's team finished with a 4-8 overall record and made its first GNAC Tournament appearance. The four wins for the Falcons tied the most victories for the program since the late 1990s. In 2014 as well as 2013, the mens tennis team finished the year 6-7 overall to mark the most wins for the program in over a decade prior to the 2015 season. Under the guidance of Migliorini, Pete Zacharias (North Haven, Conn.) was named to the GNAC All-Conference Second Team for singles' competition as he became the first Falcon men's tennis player to do so. He earned the same honor again in 2015. Migliorini, who serves as the North Haven girls varsity tennis coach in North Haven, works as a tennis instructor for the North Haven Recreation Department.  He is also a Tennis Chairperson for the High Lane Club, located in North Haven.  He is a Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) certified tennis instructor in the areas of Junior Development, 11 to 17 Development, Performance Development, and Adult Development. As the head coach at North Haven High School, Migliorini was named the 2010 New Haven Register Tennis Coach of the Year as he led the Indians to a Southern Connecticut Conference (SCC) Division II league championship title. During that year he also guided his team to the quarterfinals of the Class L state tournament, which he did again in 2011.  In 2012, he led his team to the semifinals of the Class M state tournament and in 2013 to the round of 16 of the Class L State Tournament.  Under his leadership, numerous players from North Haven High School have been named to the Connecticut All-State Tennis Team and the New Haven Register All-Area Team, as well as the SCC All-League Team. Migliorini is also an avid amateur tennis player.  As a member of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), he finished the 2010 year ranked No. 3 in New England for the Mens Singles 45 Open Division.  He is also a three time winner (2010, 2011 and 2012) of the Mens 45 and over division of the Wint Filipek Sr. Memorial Tennis Tournament, one of the largest amateur tennis tournaments held in New England.  He also leads a World Team Tennis (WTT) Team (combined men's and women's team) within the Connecticut Tennis Circuit as a player/coach and his summer 2013 team won the league championship and qualified for the USTA WTT National Championships. Migliorini also holds USTA records for the longest single game not completed (1 hour and 45 minutes) and the longest single point not completed (50 minutes), both of which occurred during an extraordinary June 1995 USTA league singles match in Trumbull, CT.  The longest single point is included in the Bud Collins Tennis Encyclopedia, 3rd edition, to exemplify the definition of a Rally in Chapter 10 Tennis Lingo. Migliorini currently works as an Intellectual Property Attorney for ExxonMobil Corporation and is an adjunct Professor of Law at Pace University in White Plains, N.Y.  Prior to law school, Migliorini graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University then went on to Rochester Institute of Technology, where he received his MBA and Masters Degree in Engineering in 1991.
