He was named the head coach prior to the start of the 2008 season. During the 2023-24 season, he reached the 200 career win milestone with a 78-73 victory of Kalamazoo College.  During his tenure, the Britons have earned plenty of MIAA first team awards: Andrew Holms (2009), J.C. Cruse (2010, '11), Kolin Kazen (2012), Jamezell Davis, Jr. (2019, '20), Caden Ebeling (2019, '20, '21) and Cortez Garland (2021, '22). Additionally, Travell Oakes shared the MIAA's Defensive Player of the Year award in 2015 while Garland won the award in 2020.  May led the Britons to the 2019-20 MIAA Regular Season Championship, earning BCAM College Coach of the Year honors.  As an assistant with Albion, the Britons compiled a 182-85 overall record with two NCAA Division III Tournament berths. In 1998, Albion earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament by winning the MIAA tournament. Albion was an at-large selection to the NCAA Tournament in 2005, advancing to the Elite Eight. He has also coached two Division III select teams that have gone on tours to Holland, Belgium, and Australia. A native of Elida, Ohio, May came to Albion after two seasons as an assistant men’s basketball program at Hanover College. During the 1995-96 season, May helped guide the Panthers to the Indiana Collegiate Athletic Conference championship and the second round of the NCAA Tournament. A captain on the 1993 NCAA Division III championship squad at Ohio Northern University, May immediately moved into the coaching ranks upon graduation in the spring of 1993. May served as an assistant coach at Bluffton (Ohio) College for two seasons while earning his master’s degree at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. May resides in Albion with his wife Julie and son Jackson.

The 2024-25 school year will be Frisbie's fourth on staff with the Britons.  After the 2022-23 season, Frisbie saw Fred Garland and Ken Thomas recognized by the MIAA for postseason accolades. It was Thomas's second straight year earning conference recognition. In his first season at Albion, Frisbie mentored Cortez Garland to First Team All-MIAA honors and Ken Thomas to a breakout season, in which he was named Second Team.  Frisbie comes to Albion following a two-year stint with MIAA-foe, Trine University. He was the head junior varsity coach, where he worked on player development as well as multiple other aspects of the program. Prior to his time at Trine, Frisbie was on the staff at Kalamazoo College for three seasons. As an assistant with the Hornets, he worked with all facets of the program, including fundraising, recruiting and scouting. Frisbie is a 2014 graduate of Western Michigan University. While earning his master's at WMU, he served as a graduate manager, producing scouting reports and breaking down film.

An Albion alum, Ryan's second season on staff will be the 2024-25 year. Ryan also serves as the head coach for the junior varsity program. 

Coach Flaniken Hometown Detroit, Mich. College Albion '25 - B.A. Bay College '23 - A.A.     High School DEPSA (Detroit, Mich.) Albion, Assistant Coach Jaylen Flaniken enters his first season as assistant coach for the 2025-26 season. Flaniken is no stranger to Albion, as he graduated in 2025 with a degree in business administration and was a two-year varsity basketball player for the Britons. He ended his Albion career with 48 games played (31 starts), 5.1 points and 3.6 rebounds per game while being named a team captain as a senior. The Detroit, Mich. native transferred to Albion from Bay College in Escanaba, Mich., where he played in 53 games (26 starts) and averaged 9.4 points per game while shooting 44.4% from the field for the Norse. He was asked to deliver the commencement speech at the college's graduation ceremony in 2023. Flaniken attended Detroit Edison Public School Academy (DEPSA), where he helped the Pioneers to an MHSAA state title as a freshman in 2018 and was a member of the National Honor Society. He started playing basketball when he was nine years old and was homeschooled until the eighth grade. Flaniken is the fourth oldest out of nine children and was nicknamed “Jaybat” in honor of his favorite superhero, Batman. He currently serves as an admissions counselor covering Wayne County at Albion.
