Alfred University Women's Swimming

  Hired at AU: Summer of 2002 UNYSCSC/Empire 8 Coach of the Year: 2023, 2022, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2005, 2003 AU Hall of Fame Inductee: 2010 Swimming Career: Alfred University (1997-2000) Alma Mater: Alfred University '00   Brian Striker was appointed in 2002 as head coach of the Alfred University men's and women's swimming and diving teams. Since taking over the program, Striker has coached 10 individuals to 27 All-America certifications.  A 2000 AU graduate, Striker was one of the top swimmers in the program's history, earning All-American certification five times in the 200 freestyle in 1999 and in the 200 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay and 800 freestyle relay in 2000. A 2010 inductee into the AU Sports Hall of Fame, Striker was a member of the teams that held school records in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays and finished his career with 55 dual meet victories. His younger brother, Todd, is a 2001 AU graduate who was a 10-time All-American swimmer (2011 inductee into the AU Sports Hall of Fame). His youngest brother, Brandon, is a 2007 AU graduate who earned All-American honors in 2004 (2017 inductee into the AU Sports Hall of Fame). Striker enjoyed immediate coaching success at Alfred, leading the men's team to its first-ever state and Empire 8 conference titles in 2003. He was named Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Conference (UNYSCSC) Coach of the Year. The women's team finished second and third, respectively, in the Empire 8 and State Championships. Striker guided the AU men's team to a second Empire 8 title in 2005, when the men's team was runner-up at the UNYSCSA championships. He was named Empire 8 and UNYSCSA Coach of the Year that season. The 2006-07, 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons culminated with the Saxons claiming their second, third and fourth UNYSCSA titles and third, fourth and fifth Empire 8 Championships. Brown is in her second year as a graduate assistant at Alfred University.  She graduated from Alfred University in May of 2014 after a two-year career as a diver for the Saxons.  Brown currently holds school records in 3-meter diving (246.85) and 3-meter diving-required (159.65).  

Behr is in her first year as a graduate assistant this fall. Behr graduated from Alfred University in May of 2015 with a bachelor's degree in psychology after a stellar four-year swimming career for the Saxons. Behr, primarily a sprinter for the swim team, holds school records in the 50 free (24.06), 100-free (52.73) and the 100-back (58.76) and was also a member of relays that hold the school records in 800-free relay (8:03.07), 400-free relay (3:37.44), 400-medley relay (4:04.88), 200-free relay (1:37.81) and the 200-medley relay (1:50.44).  Behr was named a First-Team Empire 8 Conference All-Star for the 50-free and earned Second Team honors in the 100-yard freestyle during her senior campaign.    

Taylor is in his third year as an assistant with the Saxons Swimming & Diving programs. Taylor came to AU as a graduate assistant in 2013 and has assisted in all aspects of the program, working extensively in distance freestyle and strength & conditioning. Prior to AU, Taylor was a four-year swimmer at SUNY Potsdam where he earned a bachelors degree in history and social studies education in 2013. A two-year captain at Potsdam, Taylor broke seven school records during his career. He was a two-time SUNYAC champion (2012 and 2013) in both the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke, setting a conference record in the 200 breast. Taylor earned a Masters degree in literacy education from AU in 2015.
