Alverno College Women's Softball

Shawn Grimm will begin his second season at the helm of the Alverno Softball program in Spring 2027. Grimm comes to Alverno after working most recently as the Assistant Softball Coach at the University of Minnesota Morris. He was the team’s hitting coach for the 2025 season, responsible for planning, teaching, and implementing offensive schemes and strategies. Grimm also worked to break down game film and prepared the scouting reports before each game. He was instrumental in helping the team earn an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference playoff berth, as the team finished 9-9 in conference action. Before coaching Minnesota-Morris, Grimm coached softball for well over a decade in the state of Wisconsin, as he was the head varsity softball coach at Wauwatosa High School from January of 2022 to June of 2024 and was also the head softball coach at Waukesha North High School from March of 2011 to November of 2021. At Wauwatosa, he helped the team to their most successful season in four years, while compiling a 135-66 record in his time at Waukesha North. Grimm has also been the Head 16u National Coach for the BATS/Velocity Softball team since August of 2012, helping numerous high school athletes achieve their goals and reach the next level of softball. 2026 Season Led the Inferno to a two-win improvement in his first season as head coach, coaching two all-conference honorees. Helped lead one of the best home-run hitting offenses in the NACC as the team's 16 homers were four better than the year prior and tied for fourth in the conference. The team also ranked eighth in the conference in on-base percentage at .378, over 30 points improved from the year prior. He led the team to a doubleheader sweep over Maranatha Baptist on March 31, and also led the team to their first Northern Athletics Collegaite Conference (NACC) win in nearly two years with a 5-1 victory over Concordia Chicago on Senior Day, April 19.    NACC Honorable Mention (2): Nadya Hudson (2026), Giselle Moreno (2026) Assistant Softball Coach at the University of Minnesota-Morris (2024-25) Director of Operations at Velocity Performance Training (2021-2024) Head Varsity Softball Coach, Wauwatosa East High School (2022-2024) Led the team to their most successful season and their first playoff win in four years.
