Nick Callini
Head Coach
Callini is entering his 14th season as head coach of the American International College baseball team in 2017. He was named the 15th head coach in the programs history on October 20, 2003 after the untimely passing of Chuck Lelas, who was the Yellow Jackets skipper from 1999-2003. Callini was made full-time in the fall of 2008 and added additional duties as the coordinator of the Colleges Academic Resource Center, where he assists AIC students improve their academic standing. Those duties include arranging individual and group tutoring sessions and working with students to improve their study, test taking and time management skills. Callini's biggest triumph came in 2015 as he led the Jackets to a second-place finish in the NE-10 Southwest division and earned a playoff berth for the program for the first time in 15 years. AIC hosted that first-round playoff game, but fell to New Haven 7-2. American International finished the season winning 12 of their final 14 games to compile a 17-21 record overall and a 10-8 mark in divisional action. Callini coached five All-Conference selections in 2015 ago including two secon-team members, the Rookie Player of the Year and an All-Region honoree. Overall he has coached 19 All-conference players and two All-Region selections during his tenure. from 2011-2015 he saw a drastic turn around in success collecting 15-plus wins in each season including finishing over .500 for the first time during his tenure in 2013 when the team went 21-19 overall and 12-15 in conference play thanks in large part to All-Region Selection and Second-team All-Conference player Dave Clark. AIC missed the playoffs that season due to a tiebreaker and finished just 3 games out of a playoff berth in 2014 after controlling their fate heading into the final weekend of play. Callini, who served as an assistant coach in 2003, earned a bachelors degree in economics from Trinity College (Conn.) in 2002 with a minor in models and data. He was a member of two consecutive NCAA Regional Tournament teams and the Bantams won the NESCAC title his junior season. Also during his junior season, he was named the teams Most Improved Player and received the John E. Kelly Gold Glove Award as the Bantams defensive MVP.

He is the all-time wins leader in program history.Callini led AIC to one of the most successful seasons in program history in 2023. The squad won 23 games, fifth-most in the nearly nine-decade history of the program, and qualified for the Northeast-10 Conference Championship Tournament in its lone season in the Northeast Division. Josh Frometa earned D2CCA All-American honors and headlined three All-Region selections, while Brendan Edvardsen was the NE10's Rookie Hitter of the Year while batting .403. The Yellow Jackets enjoyed a successful season in 2018, posting the second-most wins in a single season during Callini’s tenure with a 19-25 record. AIC finished tied for fourth place in the Northeast-10 Conference’s Southwest Division, with highlight victories against national No. 6 University of New Haven on March 30 and No. 15 Le Moyne College on May 5. Under his guidance, pitcher and utilityman Matt Costanza earned First Team All-Conference and First Team All-East Region honors. Christian Lalomia
Assistant Coach
Christian LaLomia was named an assistant coach for baseball on November 11, 2021. He will serve as the team's pitching coach and assist in all aspects of the program. LaLomia comes to AIC following a tremendous playing career at Ithaca College. With the Bombers from 2015-19, he was part of four consecutive Liberty League titles as a relief pitcher, helping the team to a combined 118-54 record and three NCAA Tournament appearances. He earned his degree in sport media at Ithaca, and served on the Ithaca Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Following graduation, he took a job as the graduate assistant coach at the University of Connecticut from 2019-21, assisting in all aspects of the program including scouting and statistics, running drills, evaluating both current athletes as well as recruits, and planning of both practice and game day. With LaLomia on the bench, the Huskies won the 2021 Big East Regular Season and Tournament titles, making the NCAA Tournament, and the coaching staff won the Big East's Coaching Staff of the Year Award. LaLomia has additional experience as an assistant coach in 2020 with the Cuse Bombers, a 15U travel team from Syracuse, New York, and in 2021 was named the pitching/infield coach for the Norwich Sea Unicorns of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League.

Zach Theulen
Coach
The American International College baseball team added Zach Theulen as an assistant coach in January 2022. Theulen will assist in all aspects of the program, with a focus on hitting as well as the catchers. Theulen comes into the program at AIC with a wealth of baseball experience. Most recently, he served as the assistant coach at nearby Westfield State University, working with pitchers, catchers, and hitters. While there, he ran workouts, aided in developing game and practice plans, and helped recruit. He also was an assistant coach at Springfield College from 2014-16 and Wesleyan University from 2016-17. He also has served as a head coach for Southern New England Stealth Baseball, with their AAU 15U and 16U teams; previously he had worked from 2017-20 in a similar role with Seacoast United Sports Club. Theulen earned a bachelor’s degree in general studies and social sciences from the University of Bridgeport in 2013, where he played his junior and senior seasons after transferring from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. He also played for the Pittsfield Suns of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League in 2011. Theulen obtained his master’s of education in physical education and advanced level coaching from Springfield College in 2016.
