Andy Burkholder
Head Coach
Burkholder enters his second season as Head Men's Basketball Coach in 2015-16. In his first season at the helm, Burkholder led the Yellow Jackets to its most successful season in two decades. The Yellow Jackets won their first Northeast-10 Conference Championship since 1994 and hosted the NCAA Division II East Region Championship for the first time in program history. Coach Burkholders first season saw the Yellow Jackets post a record of 24-7, the 10th 20-win season in program history. He was named the BennettRank.com Division II Coach of the Year and NABC East Region Co-Coach of the Year. Burkholder was previously an assistant under former head coach Art Luptowski from 2005-11 before stepping away from the team to become AICs first ever Director of Compliance and start a family. Burkholder played his college ball at Elizabethtown (Pa.) from 1993-97 and also got his coaching start there as an assistant from 1997-02. In his final year he helped lead the Blue Jays to a 29-3 record and a berth in the Division III National Championship Game. The players and coaching staff of the 2001-02 team were inducted into the Elizabethtown Hall of Fame in 2012. He earned his Bachelors in Social Work from Elizabethtown in 1997 and his Masters in Athletic Administration from Springfield College in 2004. Burkholder joined the coaching staff as an assistant while at Springfield from 2002-04. He spent the following season at Division II Shepherd before landing his assistant role with the Yellow Jackets. AIC posted an overall record of 88-82 (.518) in the six seasons Burkholder spent on the Yellow Jacket bench, reaching the Norheast-10 postseason three of those seasons and finishing as high as second in the league. In his final season as an assistant, AIC finished 20-9 and earned a berth in the NCAA Division II Championship Tournament, their first in 11 years. Dan Roibal joined the men's basketball staff as assistant coach in August of 2022. He will assist in all aspects of the program. Roibal comes to AIC with significant experience behind the bench at a high level. He served as assistant director of basketball operations at the Virginia Military Institute during the 2021-22 campaign. Before his time at VMI, he was a graduate assistant coach at Rutgers-Newark from 2019-21. During his time he recruited and coached 2 defensive players of the year and 5 players with first or second-team all-conference honors. As a student-athlete, Roibal played at Drew University from 2015-19. He started 41 games and was captain of one of the best teams in program history as the Rangers compiled a 23-7 record in 2018-19.
