As AIC Hockey's On-Ice Skills Coordinator, Wiedler brings a wealth of knowledge to the young Yellow Jackets in the skill development department after being mentored in his career by world-renowned skills coach Aleksey Nikiforov and serving as a lead instructor for Paul Vincent Hockey Camps.  His other responsibilities include organizing the teams defensive systems and penalty kill, coordinating video and strength and conditioning, and recruiting, playing a large role in securing the Yellow Jackets talented class of 13 incoming freshmen. Wiedler joined AIC after spending the previous two seasons as lead assistant at Division III Curry College in Milton, Mass. During his time with the Colonels, Wiedler was responsible for recruiting, coaching the defense, on-ice skills development, off-ice strength and conditioning, and video analysis, among other duties. Curry posted a 26-24-4 record in Wiedlers two seasons there, including back-to-back trips to the ECAC Northeast Semifinals. Wiedler, a native of Farmingville, New York, had a two-year professional career with the Knoxville Ice Bears of the Southern Professional Hockey League between 2011-13, and was teammates with current colleague Mike Towns in 2011-12. As a collegiate hockey player, Wiedler attended the University of Southern Maine, graduating in 2011 with a degree in history. He anchored the Huskies defensive corps for three seasons, serving as team captain in his senior year. Previous to USM, Wiedler was a member of the Elmira College men's hockey program, making it to the Division III Frozen Four his freshman year. Mike Towns

Assistant Coach

Towns enters his third season behind the AIC bench for the 2016-17 campaign. Towns has been influential in the recruiting efforts during his first two seasons with AIC, and he will serve as the Recruiting Coordinator for the 2016-2017 season. The native of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, has a wealth of playing and coaching experience that will aid the Yellow Jackets. Towns began his coaching career at AIC before the 2014-15 season, and his vast responsibilities have included recruiting, video analysis, statistical analysis, working primarily with the forwards and running the Penalty Kill. Moreover, he has overseen the programs off-ice strength and conditioning program. As a player, Towns spent four seasons in the BCHL playing with the Penticton Vees, before attending Adrian College. At Adrian, Towns was an assistant captain his first two seasons and the teams captain in his junior and senior years. In his four seasons, the Bulldogs won the MCHA Regular Season and Tournament Championship each year, and amassed an impressive 102-12-2 record in that span. During his senior season, Towns captained the Bulldogs to the NCAA Division III Frozen Four, eventually losing in the National Championship Game. Towns graduated from Adrian with a bachelors of Business administration in Management, and completed his Masters of Business Administration at AIC in May 2016. Following his successful collegiate career, Towns embarked on a 3 year professional career, making stops with the Denver Cutthroats of the CHL (Colorado Avalanche Affiliate), the Idaho Steelheads (Dallas Stars Affiliate) and Ontario Reign (LA Kings/Winnipeg Jets Affiliate) in the ECHL, and the Knoxville Ice Bears of the SPHL, where he played with current fellow assistant coach Stephen Wiedler.
