Nick Nichols
Head Coach
Nichols took the helm of the Mens and Womens Swimming and Diving Teams at Amherst at the start of the 1998-1999 season. On the womens side, Nick has led the team to a 135-21 record, including three Little Three Championships and three undefeated dual meet seasons. His teams have finished in the top ten at NCAAs 12 times, including five top-5 finishes and consecutive second place showings in 2007 and 2008. He was named the Womens Division III NCAA Coach of the Year in 2006, 2007, and 2008. On the mens side, Nichols has led the team to a 126-24 record, including four Little Three Championships and three undefeated dual meet seasons. In addition, his teams have amassed six top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championships, including back-to-back fifth place showings in 2009 and 2010. Between the two teams, he has coached swimmers to 28 individual and five relay championships at NCAAs. Nick came to Amherst after spending five years as the assistant swimming coach for Yale University. Prior to his time at Yale, he spent two seasons as the head swimming coach at the University of Vermont. While coaching for Vermont, Nick was named the 1990 New England Division I Coach of the Year. Nick began coaching after completing an impressive swimming career at St. Lawrence University. In his time at St. Lawrence, Nick compiled five individual Division III NCAA titles including repeat wins in the 100 backstroke in 1980 and 1981. In addition, he was a part of St. Lawrences 400 freestyle relay team that won NCAAs in 1980 when Nick led the team to a third place finish overall. Nick graduated from St. Lawrence in 1982 with a Bachelors Degree in Government. He currently resides in Amherst with his wife, Yanik, and daughter, Georgia. Marley Kaylor
Assistant Coach
Kaylor spent three years as an assistant coach at the Catholic University of America where she oversaw the training of male and female sprinters, middle-distance and distance swimmers, and helped guide the team to 21 school records and six Landmark Conference records. During the 2013-2014 season, she helped Catholic experience unprecedented success, with the mens and womens teams scoring more points at their conference meet than any other year in the programs history as the coaching staff earned the Landmark Conference Womens Team Coaching Staff of the Year award for the second season in a row. Kaylor graduated from SUNY Oswego in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Adolescent Education and a Bachelor of Science in English. She received her Master of Fine Arts at The American University in May 2013.
