Joey Rosenblum
Assistant Coach
Joey Rosenblum, in his first season as Assistant coach of the Arizona Western Matadors, is working with Position Players, with an emphasis on Outfielders. He finished his first season as Assistant coach of the Waterloo Bucks, making the most of every opportunity to grow in the Northwoods Summer Collegiate League. As the third base coach for a team playing 72 games in 76 days, Rosenblum cherished every moment. He conducted scouting reports using Synergy to prepare for opponents on a daily basis. He communicated this information clearly to the offense in pregame meetings. He collaborated with the head coach to create lineups, strategies and gameplans to achieve team success. Additionally, he threw batting practice and hit fungos. In May, Rosenblum finished his third season overall, and second season as Head Varsity Coach for YULA High School. He elevated the YULA Baseball Program, improving from 2-12 (2021) in first year at helm to 12-11 (2022) in second season as head coach. He secured the most wins in school history. Shortly after the 2022 season, he embarked on a new college coaching journey. The Bucks were calling. Growing up in Santa Monica, Rosenblum played youth baseball for Santa Monica P.O.N.Y. and Little League (Senior, Big League divisions), attending baseball camps at Los Angeles Urban Youth Academy (RBI), IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL), UCLA and Pepperdine. He played for the Santa Monica American Legion (Post 123) A team at Jackie Robinson Stadium in 2013. He attended Santa Monica High School, earning Baseball All-Academic Team (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013), Coachs Award (2011, 2012, 2013), and SAMOHI Baseball Scholarship (2013). Upon arriving in Santa Barbara, Rosenblum earned a Blue & Gold Academic Scholarship. In addition, his accolades include Deans Honors (College of Letters & Sciences) in three quarters (Winter 2015, Winter 2016 and Spring 2016). As a senior, Rosenblum earned the UCSB Sport Management Award, for academic excellence and evidence of future promise. He graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sport Management minor. Rosenblum played all four years in college on UCSBs Club Baseball team. As the Starting 2nd Baseman, Rosenblum earned NCBA Southern Pacific 3rd Team All-Region Honors in 2016 with 10 XBH (9 2B, 1 HR) in 17 games and NCBA Southern Pacific 2nd Team All-Region Honors in 2017. Embracing the opportunity to be a leader on and off the field for the Gauchos, Rosenblum took on the role of Presidency during his senior season (2017). One of his proudest accomplishments is never missing a single night practice on the Turf at UCSB and leading the Gauchos to Southern Pacific Regionals for the first time in 6 years. The Gauchos were 3-2 in Regionals, one win away from advancing to the NCBA World series. UCSB lost 16-12 in an epic Championship game to the defending World Series Champions, University of Nevada, Reno, finishing as Runner-Up. Rosenblums responsibilities as President included recruiting student athletes to pursue their passion of playing college baseball, conducting tryouts, securing umpires and fields for games/practices, organizing weekly team meetings and creating practice plans for a 30 man roster. While taking classes at UCSB to pursue his Psychology degree, Rosenblum played his summer ball in the Premier Collegiate (Wood Bat) Baseball League for the Santa Barbara Grizzlies (2015) and Coastal Cubs (2016). Rosenblum was ecstatic to win the PCBL Championship with the Coastal Cubs in July, 2016. He is grateful to have the opportunity to play on the same team as his father annually in the MSBL Father/Son World Series. Playing on MLB Spring Training fields in Phoenix, Arizona, the Rosenblums were World Series Champs (2019) and World Series Runner-Ups (2020) as part of the SoCal Quakes. Rosenblum thrived in his role as YULA head coach for two seasons. After breaking the school record for wins in 2022, Rosenblum was ready for a new challenge. He packed his bags and drove to Iowa to coach NCAA Division one players. The Northwoods League prepared Rosenblum for Arizona Westerns intense schedule and the minor league grind. His ultimate goal is to head a Major League team.
