Amy Anderson
Coach
Anderson has taken over the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns golf program, success has followed. The past three years in the women's golf program have represented three of the most successful years in the history of any athletic program at Arkansas Tech. Four-time GAC Player of the Year Rebecka Surtevall qualified for the NCAA DIvision II championships in 2012-13, and was joined by her teammates in the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons in the national championship event. The Golden Suns' record-setting performance in the 2015 GAC Championships was one for the ages, as Arkansas Tech opened up an early lead and never looked back, capturing the conference title by 50 strokes. The trend of success is no surprise to those who have followed the fortunes of the Golden Suns program under Anderson's tutelage. Anderson led the Golden Suns to the 2011 GSC title and also helped the 2007 team finish second at the GSC Championships. In addition, she has coached 18 All-Conference performers, including two players who have won Conference Player of the Year accolades (Ana Morales in 2010 and Rebecka Surtevall in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015). In addiiton, she earned back-to-back Coach of the Year honors as she was named the GSC Coach of the Year in 2011 and the inaugural GAC Coach of the Year in 2012. She has also led Tech to 18 in-season tournament titles, including four tournament titles during the 2014-15 season. Along with coaching golf at Tech, she also spent three seasons coaching basketball for the Golden Suns as she served as a graduate assistant coach in 2005-06 and then spent two years (2006-08) as an assistant coach. In addition to her coaching duties, Anderson is entering her sixth year as the Arkansas Tech Director of Compliance. In her duties as the compliance office, Anderson monitors the department's compliance with all NCAA and Great American Conference rules and regulations and is a resource to coaches, student-athletes, boosters and those affected or interested in the rules. In addition, Anderson is also in charge of organizing Tech's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). A 2004 graduate of Arkansas Tech, where she spent three seasons playing golf and two playing women's basketball, Anderson and her husband, Adam, live in Russellville.
