Francisco Perez
Head Coach
Perez has compiled a 142-68 record and won five consecutive Region XV Division I championships and Region XV Division I Coach of the Year awards. In 2013, Perez led the Avengers to their best regular season ever, winning a school-record 35 games, while breaking into the NJCAA Top 20 for the first time ever -- peaking at No. 17. One of the highlights of Perezs early success at ASA has been the former Avengers that have found their way to the professional ranks. Five former ASA players have either been drafted or signed with a Major League Baseball team. This group includes pitcher Isaac Gil, who was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2011 MLB Draft, marking the first time an Avengers student-athlete has been selected in a professional draft. Prior to coming to ASA, Perez was the Head Coach at Globe Institute of Technology, where he took the Knights from a 9-21 record the year before he arrived to playing .500 ball and advancing to the Finals of the 2008 NJCAA Regional Playoffs in his first year coaching the team. More than just a coach, Perez knows personally what it takes to compete in the game at its highest levels. At the age of 17, he attended Hill College on full scholarship and was recruited by the Seattle Mariners organization. For two years he was a middle infielder in the Mariners farm system, followed by a year with the New York Yankees. He then played in two independent leagues before transitioning into coaching. Perez has placed a priority on maintaining ties with the many coaches and organizations with which he has contact over the course of his years playing the game.
