Diane Dixon

Head Coach

Dixon, was named the third ever head coach for the ASA College men's track and field program in August 2015, and just completed her first season at the helm.     Dixon is a retired Olympic track and field athlete who has made the United States National, World Championship, Pan American, Goodwill Games and Olympic Teams from 1983 to 1992.  Known to her contemporaries as the "Indoor Queen," she blazed a trail in track and field, earning an Olympic gold medal in the Los Angeles Games.   She is a product of the notable Atoms Track Club where she rose to fame under the tutelage of Fred Thompson. Ms. Dixon is no stranger to challenges and achievement. Ranked nationally and internationally since 1980 in the women's 400 meters, she has captured an unprecedented 11 indoor national titles in the 400 meters -- more than any male or female in any event. She has held the American and Indoor World Records for the 300-meters, 400-meters, 440-yards, and 500-meters.  In 1984, she qualified and made her first Olympic Team and was awarded a gold medal in the 4x400-meter relay in the Los Angeles Games. In 1988, she won the United States Olympic Trials in the 400 meters, placing tops in the world ranking. Team USA took home the silver medal in the 4x400-meter relay, which set the current American record for that event in Seoul, Korea, in a time of 3.15.51 -- which still stands.     In 1991, she became the first American woman to win a World Indoor Championship Title. She captured the 400-meters and set an American Indoor Record with a time of 50.64, which stood until 2010.   In 1999, she became the first woman to be inducted into the inaugural Millrose/Madison Square Garden Track and Field Hall of Fame.   Diane attended Brooklyn Technical High School, and had over 200 scholarship offers before choosing Ohio State University.   She is currently the President of the Tri-State Olympians/Paralympians Chapter of the USOC.
