McAteer (Minnesota-Duluth '03), who earned three NCAA national titles as a womens hockey player at the University of Minnesota-Duluth and another as an assistant coach with the Bulldogs, will enter her seventh season as head coach of the Augsburg College womens hockey team in 2016-17. Personal Notes: McAteer earned her bachelors degree in communications from UMD, and earned her masters degree in speech communication from the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Augsburg Coaching Highlights: 2015-16: Led the team to a third-place MIAC finish and the MIAC playoff semifinals; the team's highest MIAC finish since winning the conference regular-season and playoff titles in 1999-00. Seven players, the most in McAteers era, earned All-MIAC or All-MIAC honorable-mention. Forward Kayla Fuechtmann was named the 2016 recipient of the Sheila Brown Award, honoring a senior women's hockey player who displayed excellence both on and off the ice. 2014-15: Augsburg jumped three spots in the conference, finishing sixth, the best league finish since the 2005-06 season. Augsburg's nine wins marked its most victories since the 2004-05 season (13-10-3), and its seven conference wins were its most since the 2005-06 season (7-8-3). 2013-14: The Auggies' nine wins (9-11-5) were the most for the squad since 2004-05 and its six league wins were the most since 2005-06. Five Auggies earned All-MIAC or All-MIAC honorable-mention honors. 2012-13: The Auggies finished 6-16-3 and were competitive throughout the season, losing five conference games by just one goal, while improving in three key categories -- goals for/against, points for/against and shots for/against. 2011-12: Led team to 6-11-8 overall record and eighth-place finish in the MIAC regular season standings; the team's six victories were more than the prior two seasons combined (five), and the team's eight ties were the most in the 16-year history of the program. 2010-11: Earned first-career head coaching victory with 3-1 win against Finlandia University on Jan. 2, 2011. An assistant captain for the Bulldogs in the 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons, she finished her 136-game career with 35 goals and 32 assists for 67 points. Playing in the first four seasons of UMDs womens hockey history (1999-2003), she was a member of teams that went 108-19-13 (.818) in her career, including a 73-13-10 (.813) record in WCHA play. McAteer was named the teams Most Valuable Player in the 2001-02 season, while also earning WCHA All-Academic Team and AWHCA All-American Scholar honors three times each. McAteer was the first Bulldog to earn a WCHA Postgraduate Scholarship, earning the award in 2003.
