Augustana College Women's Basketball

Beinborn is the seventh head coach in Augustana history.   In 2015-16, Beinborns Vikings finished 10-15 overall and 5-9 in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin, recording the program's second-most wins and most CCIW victories since 2003-04. The teams sixth-place CCIW finish equaled Augustanas best since 2002-03.   "I am extremely proud and happy to be the new head women's basketball coach at Augustana," said Beinborn at the time of his hiring. "This is a program where the ground work has been laid. The players are on board and I am thrilled with this opportunity to lead them. Augustana is a great school and we are looking forward to taking the next step."   In his first season at the reigns, Beinborns team made great strides in getting to where he wanted the program to be. Having only two seniors, he asked his underclassmen to play heavy minutes. Despite the lack of overall team experience, the Vikings compiled a 7-18 overall mark, and 2-12 mark in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play. During his second season, Beinborn was able to rely more heavily on his four seniors, while also getting solid contributions from underclassmen. The Vikings finished the season with a record of 6-19, including a 2-12 record in CCIW play. In 2014-15, Beinborns squad finished 9-16 overall and 3-11 in the CCIW.   Prior to coming to Augustana, Beinborn served as the assistant men's coach at Edgewood from 2006 through 2008. While at Edgewood, he helped direct the womens team to a conference championship and NCAA tournament berth. Before arriving at Edgewood, Beinborn also assisted with the mens team at his alma mater, University of Dubuque. He also coaches Moline/Rock Island girls AAU team during the off season.   Augustana director of athletics Mike Zapolski had this to say about the Vikings' new head coach. "Working through the search progress, it became clear that our women's basketball program needed a strong personality at the top - someone who was decisive, genuine, passionate and willing to work hard to build relationships with a wide range of prospects."   Beinborn is a 1998 graduate of the University of Dubuque with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education. He received his Master of Arts in human services from Liberty University in May of 2012. He was a two-time all-conference performer in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic conference while playing at Dubuque, where he was a two-time team captain. While at Dubuque he twice won the "Student Leadership Award". Following his collegiate days, Beinborn competed in a semi-pro league in Wisconsin.   Beinborn lives in Davenport with his wife Jilla womens volleyball assistant coach at Augustanaand their children; sons Marcus and Cole and daughter Macy.   MARK BEINBORNS YEAR-BY-YEAR RECORD

Eric J. Rowell is entering his second year as an assistant coach with the women's team. He is a 1993 graduate of Augustana College. He played for Augustana's men's team for four years and competed for a national championship in 1993.   Since graduation Eric has worked for various non-profit organizations including the YMCA. It is with the YMCA that he was able to go overseas and coach basketball in India.   Eric returned to Augustana in 2002 to work in the Advancement Office. At that time he began his college coaching career that would span from 2002-2008 with the men's team as an assistant coach. Afterwards, he began coaching youth programs in the Quad City community that included youth basketball, soccer, tee ball and swimming. Eric currently works in the Admissions Office of Augustana as an Assistant Director of Admissions and Diversity Outreach. He has two biological children, Anna and Jude, and is the legal guardian of two international students from India, Saurabh and Gaurav Patwal.
