Jason Bloomingburg

Head Coach

Jason Bloomingburg joined the Aurora University men’s hockey program as Head Coach in the spring of 2016. In the winter of 2022, Bloomingburg assumed the role of Director of Hockey at AU. In this capacity he will oversee the club hockey programs while continuing in his duties as the Head Coach of the NCAA men's program. In his short time at the helm of the Spartans, Bloomingburg has led Aurora to multiple NCHA Harris Cup playoff appearances and being ranked in the USHO weekly top 15 poll. AU has become a nationally recognized program having been a steady presence in the top-five rankings and the programs first Frozen Four appearance in 2026.  Following the 2019-2020 season, two players in Bloomingburg's first recruiting class, Drew Doyon and Liam Stirtzinger signed professional contracts in the SPHL. Since multiple Spartans have gone on to play professionally including LA Grissom and Josh Boyko among many more.   Bloomingburg comes to AU after spending the previous four seasons as the head coach of the Florida Eels of the USPHL. In four seasons he amassed a 124-48-6 record, led the team to a pair of division titles and was the 2012-2013 USPHL Coach of the Year. He was a nominee for the same award for the 2015-2016 season.   Prior to becoming the head coach in Florida, Bloomingburg spent three seasons as an assistant coach with the Texas Tornado NAHL organization. Bloomingburg has an extensive playing career which began with the Tornado hockey club where he was a captain, team MVP, NAHL MVP and First-Team All-League in 2001-2002.   He went on to play college hockey at Providence College for one season before moving on to Wayne State University. In his three seasons at Wayne State, Bloomingburg was a Hobey Baker Finalist, an assistant captain and led the team in goals scored during the 2004-2005 season. In his senior campaign of 2005-2006, he was a captain at Wayne State and wrapped up his career with 41 goals (fourth all-time) and 17 power-play goals (third all-time). Ellie Knight

Ellie Knight joined the Aurora University Athletic Department as a Graduate Assistant for the Spartan Men's and Women's Golf programs in the fall of 2025. Ellie graduated from Aurora in the spring of 2025 with Bachelor degrees in Business Administration and Marketing. She is now persuing her Master's in Business Administration. During her time at AU, she competed for the Women's golf team for four years, where she received awards such as the 2024 and 2025 NACC Women's Golfer of the Year, a WGCA All-American Scholar Athlete, and multiple NACC Scholar-Athlete awards. She was also named the 2021 NACC Freshman of the Year and earned four All-Conference honors throughout her time. Ellie is from Auburn, Illinois.

Justin Wyeth

Coach

Justin Wyeth took over the reigns of the AU women's golf program in the fall of 2010 and in November of 2014 assumed the duties of the AU men's golf program as well. Wyeth is no stranger to Aurora University, as he was a member of the AU men’s golf 2006 Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference championship team; he was selected as NIIC All-Conference, AU Team MVP and captain. Wyeth is a 12-time Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year, claiming the first honor in 2014-2015 after leading the AU women to the program's fourth NACC Championship and the school 's first NCAA Division III Championships appearance. He has gone on to add six more NACC Women Coach of the Year honors for seven total. was the NACC Coach of the Year on the women's side. In his fourth year running the AU men's program Wyeth led the Spartans back to the top of the standings and the Spartans have remained at the top of the league since while also climbing the ladder on the national scene. The 2017-2018 AU men's golf team returned the Spartans to NACC leaders as AU won the NACC Championship, made an appearance in the NCAA Championship and Wyeth earned his first Men's Coach of the Year honor. His 2018-2019 team added to the impressive run for Wyeth's teams as they set NACC records on the final day of the championship round with win by 14 strokes and earn a return trip to the NCAA Championship. In receiving Coach of the Year honors, he swept both the men's and women's awards and has now done so three times. At the national level, Wyeth's teams both have shown well with the top finishes by both the men and women by a NACC program. The 2021-2022 Spartan golf season was historical for both the AU men's and women's programs. The AU men continued to climb the ranks in the Division III spectrum as the Spartans finished the season ranked No. 14 in the Bushnell/GolfWeek Coaches Poll after a NACC and AU best 14th place finish at the NCAA Championships. Wyeth was named the NCAA Division III 2022 Region 6 Coach of the Year presented by Golf Pride Grips, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Additionally, AU had the program's first All-American following the 2021-2022 season when Scott Boyajian earned Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) PING All-American honors after he finished tied for sixth at the 2022 NCAA Division III Championships. The AU women had their best Championship total with a three-round 1004 and finished 25th overall while Spartan Kallie Sakamoto made AU and NACC history in becoming the first women's golfer to make the cut.
