Nolan Miller
Assistant Coach
Miller was a two-time Midwest Lacrosse Conference All-Conference selection as a midfielder. Prior to his time at AU, Miller was a Brine High School All-American, two-time Indiana All-State High School Attackman, two-time Indiana Catholic Conference First Team Attackman and the Indiana High School State Scoring Leader while playing for the Indianapolis Bishop Chatard Trojans. He was also a 2010 Indiana AP All-State HS Football Defensive Back while playing outside linebacker and running back for the 2010 Indianapolis Bishop Chatard Trojans during their record 10 Indiana High School State Football Championship. Miller has coached lacrosse for True Lacrosse (IL) and Hoosier Lacrosse (IN) coaching summer leagues, box leagues, travel teams and running tournament lacrosse events. Miller is currently working towards a Masters Degree in Accountancy at Aurora University.

Phil Dodson

Dodson oversaw nine defensive players named MLC all-conference including the Defensive Player of the Year. In 2014 as defensive coordinator he led the Spartans ranked second nationally in goals against average and ranked third in scoring defense. Prior to joining the Spartan lacrosse staff Dodson spent the 2013 season at Carthage College as defensive coordinator. While at Carthage he helped lead the team to a 15-4 record, best in school history finishing second in the MLC and runner up in the conference tournament. As defensive coordinator he led the Red Men ranked 14th in scoring defense, 23rd in goals against average and 51st in man down defense. Before his time at Carthage, Dodson spent three seasons as head coach of the University of Illinois where he compiled a 37-13 record. Two of the three seasons his Illini qualified for the national club tournament. Also while at Illinois Dodson produced 21 all conference players including 7 MCLA All-Americans and five MCLA Scholar Athletes. As a player at Illinois Dodson was named MCLA All-American in 2008 and 2009 as a defenseman. He was also awarded the MCLA Scholar Athlete award in 2009. Dodson graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelors in classics. Phil Dodson joined the Spartan lacrosse staff for the 2014 season and has served as the defensive coordinator. In his first two years he helped lead the team to consecutive Midwest Lacrosse Conference championships and sweet sixteen appearances of the NCAA tournament. In 2015 Dodson oversaw nine defensive players named MLC all-conference including the Defensive Player of the Year. Kylor Berkman
Coach
Berkman became head coach of the Spartan men's lacrosse program in the fall of 2011. He joined the Spartan staff in the fall of 2010 prior to AU's first varsity season of competition as a graduate assistant. In the spring of 2012, he assumed the role of Assistant Director of Athletics. In his time at AU, Berkman's Spartans are 76-23 overall record and 40-1 in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference with four regular season and tournament championships. The 2013 Spartans were the first men's lacrosse team in the state of Illinois to appear and win a NCAA contest. AU advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 and repeated that appearance in 2014, 2015 and 2016 as well. Prior to joining the AU staff, Berkman served as an assistant coach (offensive coordinator) at his alma mater, Salisbury University in the fall of 2009. Berkman has the distinct honor of being one of two Division III student-athletes to be selected to play in Major League Lacrosse in 2009, he was drafted by the Baltimore Bayhawks. As a player for the Sea Gulls, Berkman had a tremendous four-year career having been named the NCAA National Lacrosse Player of the Year in Division III as a junior in 2008. He was also a three-time NCAA Most Outstanding Midfielder, three-time Division III All-American, three-time All-Capital Conference first-team selection, two-time captain and was multiple times selected the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Week. In addition to his on field accolades at Salisbury, Berkman was an NCAA Academic All-American, Capital Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete and served on the Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC). As a prep athlete, Berkman was a two-time All-American and Maryland All-State player. Berkman has worked numerous lacrosse select camps, including the Blue Chip 225, Ohio State Team Camp, Top Star, Hot Shots, Rogue, Baltimore Bayhawks and Crown Youth Lacrosse camps. Berkman earned a bachelors degree in business management (2008) with a minor in coaching and is currently working towards his masters degree in business administration at Aurora University.
