Aurora University Women's Golf

Mandy Montgomery was named the third Head Coach of the Aurora University women's hockey program in June, 2024. Montgomery will lead the Spartans with a wealth of experience as both a coach and student-athlete at the Division I and III levels, most recently as an assistant coach at Elmira College and before that an assistant coach at SUNY Canton. Her responsibilities with the previous programs included recruiting, creating practice plans, analyzing game film, and organizing the team's strength and conditioning program, in addition to assist students in the classroom as a tutor. With Montgomery on the bench at Elmira, the program went 84-12-4, winning four conference titles, making three NCAA Tournament appearances while coaching eight All-Americans, 10 All-Conference student-athletes and 30+ Academic All-Americans. Montgomery's extensive hockey background also includes two years as an assistant at Division I institutions. In 2014-15, she joined the coaching staff at her alma mater, Sacred Heart University, where she worked primarily with the team's goaltenders and defense. In 2016-17, worked at Colgate University. That season, Colgate won 22 games and qualified for the ECAC Hockey Tournament for the second consecutive year and ranked among national leaders in penalty kill percentage (90.5), as well as scoring defense (2.03 gpg). Outside of collegiate hockey, Montgomery gained valuable experience as a coach at several USA Hockey development camps and possesses a Level 3 certification from USA Hockey's Coaching Education Program and training in concussion management and strength and conditioning. As a student-athlete on the ice, Montgomery spent the first two years of her collegiate career as a member of the inaugural St. Norbert College women's ice hockey teams in 2010-11 and 2011-12. As a sophomore goaltender with the Green Knights, she recorded shutout victories in two of her five starts. Montgomery then transferred to Division I Sacred Heart and played her final two seasons with the Pioneers. She was second on the team in minutes (652:42), saves (442) and victories (4) as a junior, helping the Pioneers achieve an 18-win season. Montgomery graduated summa cum laude from Sacred Heart in 2014 with a degree in English and received her master's in general education from Elmira College in 2020. Brian Dempsey joined the Aurora University hockey program in 2014 and serves as the Spartans goaltending coach when the team joined the ranks of the NCAA. Dempsey has personally coached goaltenders in NCAA D1 programs as well as the professional ranks including the NHL.  He has also worked with many AAA and Junior organizations in evaluating and selecting goaltenders. He has extensive experience with coaching professional goaltenders as part of the Tretiak International School of Goaltending, where he served as a staff instructor for a number of years working with Russian Olympic legend Vladislav Tretiak to coach and instruct dozens of professional goaltenders. Additionally, Dempsey has worked with Hannu Nyquist, goaltending coach for the Finnish National Team, and has had the opportunity to coach a number of European goaltenders. Dempsey holds a USA Hockey Level 4 Coaching designation, and has participated in the USA Hockey Advanced Coaching Program at Lake Placid. He has been a lead instructor for USA Hockey affiliates in an effort to provide goaltending expertise as part of the Coaching Education Program.  

Erika Goleniak joined the Aurora University women's hockey program as a graduate assistant coach prior to the 2025-2026 season. Goleniak comes to AU after completing her playing career at Elmira College. In her career she earned numerous honors:  - CCM/AHCA First Team All-American 2025 - CCM/AHCA Second Team All-American 2024 - NEHC Conference Player of the Year 2025 - NEHC First Team All-Conference 2023-2024 and 2024-25 - Laura Hurd National Player of the Year Finalist 2025 - Elmira College Athletics Most Outstanding Career Award 2025 - VanGorden Booster Club Player of the Year 2023-2024 and 2024-25 - Finished career with 122 total points, ranking 12th all time in Elmira College History - NEHC Conference Champions 2021-2022, 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 - NCAA National Tournament 2021-2022 (semifinalist), 2023-2024 (runner-up), and 2024-2025 (quarterfinalist) - NEHC All-Academic Team 2022-2023, 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 - Empire 8 President's List 2023  - Earned Bachelors Degree from Elmira College, Double-Major in Psychology & Business Administration 2025  

Justin Wyeth took over the reigns of the AU women's golf program in the fall of 2010 and in November of 2014 assumed the duties of the AU men's golf program as well. Wyeth is no stranger to Aurora University, as he was a member of the AU men’s golf 2006 Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference championship team; he was selected as NIIC All-Conference, AU Team MVP and captain. Wyeth is a 12-time Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year, claiming the first honor in 2014-2015 after leading the AU women to the program's fourth NACC Championship and the school 's first NCAA Division III Championships appearance. He has gone on to add six more NACC Women Coach of the Year honors for seven total. was the NACC Coach of the Year on the women's side. In his fourth year running the AU men's program Wyeth led the Spartans back to the top of the standings and the Spartans have remained at the top of the league since while also climbing the ladder on the national scene. The 2017-2018 AU men's golf team returned the Spartans to NACC leaders as AU won the NACC Championship, made an appearance in the NCAA Championship and Wyeth earned his first Men's Coach of the Year honor. His 2018-2019 team added to the impressive run for Wyeth's teams as they set NACC records on the final day of the championship round with win by 14 strokes and earn a return trip to the NCAA Championship. In receiving Coach of the Year honors, he swept both the men's and women's awards and has now done so three times. At the national level, Wyeth's teams both have shown well with the top finishes by both the men and women by a NACC program. The 2021-2022 Spartan golf season was historical for both the AU men's and women's programs. The AU men continued to climb the ranks in the Division III spectrum as the Spartans finished the season ranked No. 14 in the Bushnell/GolfWeek Coaches Poll after a NACC and AU best 14th place finish at the NCAA Championships. Wyeth was named the NCAA Division III 2022 Region 6 Coach of the Year presented by Golf Pride Grips, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Additionally, AU had the program's first All-American following the 2021-2022 season when Scott Boyajian earned Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) PING All-American honors after he finished tied for sixth at the 2022 NCAA Division III Championships. The AU women had their best Championship total with a three-round 1004 and finished 25th overall while Spartan Kallie Sakamoto made AU and NACC history in becoming the first women's golfer to make the cut.
