Rodney Wecker

Head Coach

Wecker will enter his 10th season as the head coach of the Austin College mens basketball team in 2016-17. During his first season at the helm, Wecker guided the Roos to their first postseason berth in a decade when the team reached the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, and has continued this success by leading the Roos to the SCAC Tournament in each of his first six seasons. Since taking over the program, Wecker has led the Roos on a steady climb and coached the team to a program record 20 wins and a 20-7 overall record, including a SCAC best 12-4 conference mark and the SCAC West regular season crown in 2009-10. Wecker was named the SCAC Coach of the Year for these achievements. Wecker came to Austin College from Whitworth College, where he served as an assistant coach from 1991-2004, and associate head coach from 2005-2007. During his time at Whitworth, Wecker helped guide the team to a 280-146 record and 12 post-season appearances, including four national tournaments. The team also won five conference titles during Weckers time there. In 2003, Wecker was named the AFLAC National Assistant Coach of the Year. Along with serving as Head Coach at Austin College, Wecker also serves as the assistant athletic director for operations and is directly responsible for the management of the Robert T. Mason Athletic-Recreation Complex. Wecker played collegiately at Metropolitan State College in Denver, where he earned a degree while double majoring in secondary education and sports communication. He received his Masters degree in teaching from Whitworth in 1995. Wecker and his wife Trina have three children: daughter Cameron, son Paxson, and daughter London.
