Brandon Johnson
Head Coach
Brandon Johnson enters his third season at the helm of the Austin College softball program in 2025 and is coming off of a record breaking year for the Roos Softball Program. During the 2024 softball season, the Roos softball team broke 26 individual and team records, including most regular season wins in a season (20) and guided the Roos softball team back to the playoffs for the first time since 2015. Johnson came to Austin College from the club softball circuit. Johnson, a native of Arlington, founded and has been the coach of the Texas Titans softball club since 2015, and during his time helped guide 33 players reach the collegiate ranks. Prior to that, he worked with North Texas Prospect Baseball from 2005-2015, with 17 of the prospects he coached reaching the college level and two making it to Major League Baseball. Through his time coaching both softball and baseball, Johnson has developed expertise in game management and talent development, working with players at every position and helping enable them to achieve outstanding success both on and off the field. A standout player himself, Johnson committed to Cal State Fullerton and then LSU and was also drafted by the Kansas City Royals, before beginning his coaching career in both baseball and softball. Johnson believes that his number one goal is to create an atmosphere and a culture that empowers his players to not only succeed but to also learn the finer points of the game as well. Described as a players coach, Johnson believes in building strong, lasting relationships with his players and earning the right to speak into their lives, not only on the softball field but in life as well. Coach Johnson believes that it is his calling to work with young athletes and help to guide them towards whatever goal or dream they have in life after softball. Johnson has been married to his best friend Jessica since high school, and the couple have a beautiful daughter named Breanna. They enjoy serving at their church, watching movies, attending Broadway musicals and rooting for Texas A&M Aggie football. Success isnt determined by stats or the number of wins you earn while you are playing for me. Success is determined about WHO you become once you leave me.
