Michael Hobson
Head Coach
Michael Hobson was announced as the third head beach volleyball coach in program history, May 28, 2024. Hobson brings more than 10 years of professional and collegiate coaching experience to Clarksville. He most recently served as the head beach volleyball coach at Louisiana Monroe, where he led the War Hawks to 47 wins over the last two seasons. After leading ULM to 11 wins in 2022 – including a victory against Southern Miss in the Conference USA Beach Volleyball Championship – Hobson cultivated the largest turnaround in program history, leading the War Hawks to a 31-4 2023 season, which included a 30-2 mark during the regular season. During that 2023 season, the War Hawks won over 84 percent of their dual matches (135-25), including 17 5-0 sweeps. ULM also posted the fourth undefeated home season in program history and earning a program-best eight wins on their home sand. ULM also had two pairings – Avery Reynolds and Claire Williamson as well as Julia Blazek and Kaitlyn Nowak – named Second Team All-Sun Belt Conference in 2023. Reynolds and Glen Allen also were the only team in Division I to post at least 30 wins prior to postseason play with a program-record 30-1 mark, with the .968 winning percentage ranking second among all Division I pairings. Prior to leading ULM on the beach courts, Hobson served as an assistant indoor coach during the 2022 season, where he directed all scouting materials, game plans, orchestrated offensive in-game strategies. Hobson then served as the War Hawks’ interim head coach, Dec. 2022-June 2023. Before arriving in Monroe, Louisiana, Hobson was an assistant volleyball coach and recruiting coordinator at Seattle for two seasons, building all recruiting and offensive strategies for the Redhawks during the 2020-21 seasons. Hobson served as the director of volleyball operations during the 2018-19 seasons at Texas Tech, where he organized video and statistical analysis for the Red Raiders, managed team calendars for student-athletes and coaching staff, and supervised team managers and interns. Hobson officially began his coaching career at Bucknell, where he was for the 2016-17 seasons, comprising defensive strategies for the Bison. While working in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, Hobson also worked as the assistant men’s sitting volleyball coach for USA Volleyball, spearheading defensive game strategies for international competition and also contributed to scouting and video breakdown for upcoming opponents. During his tenure, Team USA competed in the International Cup in Hangzhou, China, to qualify for the 2016 Paralympic Games, and at the NORSECA Games in Montreal, Canada, which later qualified the team for the 2020 Paralympic Games. Hobson served as a graduate assistant at Northwest Missouri State, where he helped establish plans for middle and pin hitters in both offensive work and blocking schemes while also establishing and executing NMSU summer volleyball camps. Hobson began his career on the sideline at Penn State where he served as the Nittany Lions’ men’s volleyball manager technical coordinator for two seasons. During that time, the PSU earned back-to-back trips to the NCAA Men’s Volleyball Final Four. TJ Bettineschi
Head Coach
Austin Peay Vice President and Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison named TJ Bettineschi the Spirit Coordinator and Head Cheerleading Coach, May 2023. As Spirit Coordinator, Bettineschi will also oversee the Austin Peay dance team. Before coming to Clarksville, Bettineschi spent a year as the spirit coordinator and head cheerleading coach at Long Island University (LIU), where she oversaw the functions and scheduling of cheer, dance, band, and the mascot at campus-wide events. Bettineschi also served as an athletics success coach for the Sharks, advising over 180 student-athletes to ensure they maintained progress toward graduation. While working for LIU, Bettineschi also served as the assistant program manager for the Matt Martin Foundation. From 2019-22, Bettineschi worked as a social studies teacher at Rochdale Charter School and she was also the varsity cheerleading coach at Massapequa High School from 2017-21. Since 2018, Bettineschi has been a part of the Universal Cheerleader's Association as a Varsity Spirt – UCA Instructor, helping with a number of summer camps and competitions at both the regional and national levels. Bettineschi received her bachelor's in secondary education from Ole Miss in 2017 and earned a master's in education from Stony Brook in 2021.

Sarah Riedell
Assistant Coach
Sarah Riedell joined Michael Hobson's inaugural staff as an assistant beach volleyball coach, Aug 2024. Riedell comes to Clarksville after an illustrious four-year career in the sand for Coastal Carolina, where she was a Second Team All-Sun Belt selection last season, as well as being a two-time Sun Belt Championship All-Tournament Team honoree. The Greensboro, North Carolina native posted a .500-or-better winning percentage each season for the Chanticleers, finishing her collegiate with a 73-61 record, including 51 victories from the No. 1 position. Riedell went 15-12 while exclusively playing on the No. 3 court during her freshman season. That season, she also earned her first of two President’s List honorees after posting a 4.0 GPA in the fall 2020 semester and was named to the 2020-21 ASUN Academic Honor Roll. The following season, Riedell went 17-17 while splitting time between the No. 1 and No. 2 flights, including winning 10 matches from the top position. As a junior, she went 20-18 from the top court, which was best for third on the team in wins. She also went 3-2 for the Chanticleers in the Sun Belt Championship to earn All-Tournament honors. During her final collegiate season, Riedell went 21-14 from the No. 1 flight, winning 15-of-17 between March 2-30, to earn All-Sun Belt Conference honors. She again went 3-2 in the Coastal Carolina’s postseason run, helping lead the Chanticleers to their second-straight Sun Belt Championship match appearance.

Emilee Furrow
Assistant Coach
Emilee Furrow joined head volleyball coach Evan Amstutz’s coaching staff at Austin Peay as a graduate assistant in January 2026. Furrow comes to Clarksville after spending time as the head student manager at James Madison for the 2023-25 seasons. While at JMU, Furrow oversaw the manager staff and worked with the volleyball staff to ensure the needs of the program were met. She assisted in practice and in-match operations. Furrow live-coded during games and practices and was responsible for video collection and the ordering and organization of equipment. In her three seasons as head manager, the Dukes made as many Sun Belt Conference Tournament appearances and a trip to the NCAA tournament in 2023. Outside of JMU, Furrow served as an assistant coach at 540 Volleyball Academy, where she was responsible for practice and in-game statistical analysis. While serving at the 540 Volleyball Academy, Furrow assisted in the day-to-day operations of the club and helped make travel plans for coaches and families. A native of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Furrow received her bachelor’s degree in communication studies and is working towards her master's at Austin Peay.
