Rocky Batty

Head Coach

Rocky Batty is in his eighth season as the head men's lacrosse coach at Babson College in 2025-26. He was hired as the 14th head coach in program history back in 2018. The Beavers are coming off a string of three outstanding seasons under Batty the last three years, capturing three consecutive New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) tournament championships and making appearances in the second or third round of the NCAA Tournament. Batty and his assistants were voted NEWMAC Coaching Staff of the Year in both 2023 and 2024 while the team also earned 26 All-Conference selections, including three Player and Defensive Players of the Year and one Rookie of the Year. Babson also had one second team All-American, one third team All-American, nine honorable mention All-Americans and 13 All-Region selections. After a 2024 season that culminated with a NEWMAC Tournament championship, a program-record for victories with a 16-4 record, an NCAA tournament second round victory over Denison, and numerous All-Region and All-America selections, the Beavers followed up with a 14-6 mark in 2025 with a third straight NEWMAC tournament crown and as many as eight all-conference, four all-region and three all-American honorees. Batty led the Beavers to historic 2021 campaign that included a share of the NEWMAC regular season title before capturing the first conference tournament championship in program history. The victory over Coast Guard allowed the Green and White to punch its ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1979. Babson entered the Nike/US Lacrosse Division III poll at No. 20 going into the NCAA Tournament and Batty's players earned five all-conference and a program-record five NEILA all-region awards following the season. After going 8-9 overall in 2019, Batty guided the Beavers to early-season victories over Bates and Endicott in 2020 before the campaign was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Beavers finished 8-9 again in 2022, earning home-field advantage in the first round of the NEWMAC Tournament, and had four Beavers earn All-Conference honors and two receive All-Region accolades. Well-respected and with more than 25 years of head coaching experience, Batty came to Babson after serving as an assistant coach at Division I Boston University in 2018. He was involved in all facets of the program for the Terriers, who reached the Patriot League Tournament semifinals following an upset of nationally-ranked Bucknell University. Prior to his stint at Boston University, Batty spent 10 seasons as the boys' varsity lacrosse coach at Wellesley High School. He posted an overall record of 148-63 while leading the Raiders to the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletics Association (MIAA) State Tournament 10 straight times between 2008-17. Batty guided Wellesley to an undefeated regular season in 2011 and the Eastern Massachusetts Division II championship game in 2012. During his tenure, over 40 players went on to play lacrosse in the collegiate ranks. A 1991 graduate of Brown University, Batty played defense for the Bears before beginning his coaching career at Brookline High School in 1992, where he served as the boys' varsity head coach from 1999-2006.
