Norm Govoni

Assistant Coach

A fixture on the Babson campus for over 40 years, Norm Govoni is in his 34th season as assistant baseball coach at Babson College in 2026. Govoni is a Wellesley native and former baseball standout at Wellesley High School and The Tilton School. After receiving his B.S. and M.B.A. degrees from Syracuse University, where he played freshman baseball for the Orangemen, Dr. Govoni earned his Ph.D from the University of Missouri. He taught at Syracuse University, the University of Missouri, and Bowling Green State University, before arriving at Babson in 1970. At Babson, he has earned awards for teaching and service, and in the summer of 2007 became the first-ever recipient of the Kevin Burr Assistant Coach of the Year Award during the NEIBA College All-Star Game. The driving force behind the Babson College Athletics Hall of Fame, the Professor of Marketing served as Babson's NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative and chairman of the Athletics Advisory Committee. In his younger days, Govoni played amateur baseball in the Boston Park League and the Blackstone Valley League. In 2003, he was honored by the Boston Park League with the Thomas A. Yawkey Sportsman Award for his contributions to amateur baseball. Dr. Govoni resides in Medfield. His wife of 41 years, Terry, passed away in January 2005. She was an avid supporter of Babson baseball, and the widely-reknowned and beautifully manicured Babson baseball diamond is named in their honor. They have three children.
