Miguel Regalado
Head Coach
Regalados group once again opened holes for Richie Bryant who led the HAAC in rushing for a second consecutive season with over 1,200 yards In 2011 Regalado was promoted by head coach Mike Grossner to offensive coordinator. Sophomore quarterback Jake Morse had a breakout year leading the HAAC in passing, throwing 17 touchdowns to only four interceptions en route to being named HAAC Co-offensive player of the year. Senior running back John Babb also led the HAAC in rushing and was named the 1st-Team All-HAAC running back. Most recently in 2012, Baker had a balanced attack with 2,056 yards rushing and 2,110 yards passing for a total of 4,166 for an average of 378.7 yards per game. Under Regalado's direction, the Wildcats ran for 23 touchdowns and threw for 20 and averaged 26.9 points per game. Regalado is proud to have coached a 1st-Team All-HAAC offensive lineman five straight years: Andy Bibb (08), Clint Benge (09), Billy Chambers (10), and Aaron Rieschick (11 and 12). Both Bibb and Benge also earned NAIA All-American honors. Miguel and wife Heather are parents of a son and daughter, Jalen and Ava. Young brings over 40 years of football coaching experience to the Baker University staff. The central Iowa native and four year football lettermen at Northwest Missouri State University, spent 28 years as a head high school coach in Missouri. Voted a member of the Missouri High School Coaches Hall of Fame in 1999, Young amassed nearly 200 wins in his long term high school career. In the summer of 2015 Young was chosen as one of the first football coaches to be inducted in the GKCFCA Hall of Fame, and honor bestowed to some of Kansas Citys area top football coaches. Starting his career at Norborne, his team of 20 players advance to the semi-final game, at his first job. Next stop at Marceline high, they played in the first ever Show Me Bowl championship games played in St. Louis Busch stadium. Young then came to the Kansas City area, were he helped build the foundation for one of the most tradition rich high school programs in the KC Metro area at Ray-Pec, while coaching there in the 80s and 90s the Panthers sent over a dozen football players to become future Baker Wildcats. Retiring from high school in 2000, Young headed to Baker University for his first stop with the Wildcats. While at BU they played in 2 bowl games, with Young coaching the running backs and special teams. Leaving Baker in 2004, Coach Young head to Avila University in the HAAC league where he was the head coach for five years. In his final season there Avila posted one of their best records ever, plus winning their first bowl game in the schools history, a First Down Classic win over Doane College. After stepping down from Avila in 2009, Coach Grossner recruited Young back to Baker, returning to coach the running backs and help in the Special teams area. Since returning Coach has helped in the development of some of the Wildcats best young prospects in the backfield. Long known for his old school coaching style, using hard work, fundamentals and playing with great intensity, Young has quickly gained the respect of all the Wildcat players. The long time coach has also stepped in to help in recruiting, Young has used his many Missouri contacts to help bring a new influx of the bordering state players to Baldwin City. Coach Young and his wife, Dwyla have three grown daughters, Julie, Lindy and Kara. Jerry Aligo enters his 14th consecutive season at Baker, but his history as a Baker coach dates to the Charlie Richard era. Aligo coached at Baker from 1988 to 1991 before serving as head coach for 15 years at McLouth High School and an assistant at Baldwin High for two years. He rejoined the Baker staff in 2002 and is a teacher at McLouth High School. The New Jersey native was an All-Conference and All-District 10 performer at defensive tackle for McPherson College in 1977. Aligo's experience and knowledge of the game makes him a great asset to the Wildcat football program. Since joining Coach Grossners staff in 2003, he has been instrumental in the development of several All-American and All-Conference defensive linemen. During Aligos time at Baker, the Wildcat front four has continuously ranked as one of the top defensive units in the country. He and his wife, Linn, have two adult children, Scott and Tony. Coach Blakesley enters his sixth season helping lead the defensive line. He previously served as a graduate assistant coach on the staff and is now transitioning into the defensive line coach. Blakesley played at the University of Kansas from 2005-09. He played all four of his years under head coach Mark Mangino and was a vital part of the Jayhawks three Bowl victories during his career, helping lead KU to a Fort Worth Bowl victory over Houston in 2005, 42-13, was also on the KU squad that defeated Minnesota, 42-21, in the Insight Bowl and helped lead Kansas to the 2008 Orange Bowl victory over Virgina Tech, 21-17. Josh Saunders joined the Baker University football coaching staff officially for the first time in 2015, as he previously worked for the team on a volunteer basis, he will help lead the tight end group. Saunders had a successful playing career with Baker under Hall of Fame head coach Charlie Richard. He still holds the school record in sacks in a game with four in 1994.
