Baker University Women's Cross Country

Byers has coached at many collegiate levels, including NAIA, NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and D-III.  He has also served as the head track and field coach at Ottawa University (Kan.) and Simpson College (Iowa). In his 19 years as a collegiate cross country and track coach, Byers has been a part of 19 conference championships, led 266 NAIA/NCAA conference players, 25 NAIA/NCAA conference champions, 87 NAIA/NCAA national qualifiers, 19 NAIA/NCAA All-Americans and one NCAA national champion in the womens javelin. Byers graduated from Park University in 1997 with a BA in Sports Medicine and a MS in Human Performance/Exercise Science from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 1998. During the offseason Coach Byers mentors a summer youth track and field team named the TCB T&F Club in Lawrence, Kan., and works with kids from 2 to 8 grade. He is also an avid Ironman triathlete competitor. Byers lives in Lawrence with his wife of 22 years, Lori, and their two sons, Tre (16) and Will (13).
