Barton College Men's Basketball

Zimmerman was rehired as assistant men's basketball coach at Barton College in the summer of 2012 and enters his seventh season with the Bulldogs athletics department in 2016-17. Zimmerman served as assistant mens basketball coach under the leadership of Barton College head coach Ron Lievense for two seasons including the Bulldogs magical National Championship winning campaign in 2007. Zimmerman shifted his focus over to the NCAA Division I ranks at Morehead State University for two years after the 2008 season where he held the titles director of basketball operations and assistant mens coach for the Eagles. Zimmerman returned to Wilson in 2010 and spent two years working as Barton College assistant director for athletic development. He rejoined Lievense's staff for the 2012-13 campaign, helping the Bulldogs to a 23-8 record and their second straight NCAA Division II Tournament appearance. Barton won two games in the tournament and reached the Southeast Region Finals (Sweet 16) for the third time in school history.  Zimmerman played collegiate basketball within Conference Carolinas (previously known as CVAC) at former member institution Anderson University before graduating in 2003. Zimmerman volunteered as an assistant coach at his alma mater before first being hired at Barton. Zimmermans first year at Barton was highlighted by winning the National Championship. Zimmerman added the position of assistant compliance coordinator in his second year at Barton, a role he once again holds. At Morehead State, Zimmerman was part of arguably the Eagles best two seasons in program history with back-to-back 20 win seasons including a trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2009.
