Ashley Leonard
Head Coach
Leonard was named interim head men's and women's golf coach at Barton for the 2013-14 season in August. Leonard served as a volunteer assistant coach with the Barton golf programs the previous two seasons. Leonard is the most decorated high school golfer in North Carolina history, having won the 1996, 1997 and 1998 state individual championships and finishing as runner-up in 1999. Leonard was promoted to Head Golf Professional at Birchwood Country Club in Nashville, N.C., in January of 2013 and continues to serve in that position while coaching the Bulldogs in 2013-14. Leonard held the position of Assistant Golf Professional at Birchwood for the previous eight years. Leonard is a graduate of Northern Nash High School and East Carolina University. She played professionally on the Duramed Futures Tour from 2005-2008, participating in 32 events. She finished tied for third in her only appearance on the Women's Hooters Tour. In high school, Leonard was a three-time All-Big East performer and was the league's Golfer of the Year in 1999 and 2000. She was the 1998 North and South Junior Champion, played in the 1999 USGA Junior Girls Championship and the 2000 USGA Women's Amateur Public Links Championship. She was Northern Nash's 2000 Female Athlete of the Year, when she won the Triple Crown Award for Academics, Athletics and Character. She was also an AJGA Polo Junior Honorable Mention All-American in 1999. While at East Carolina, Leonard had a handful of top-five finishes. She tied for medalist honors at the 2002 Taco Bell Intercollegiate and was runner-up at the 2000 Lady Pirate Intercollegiate. She posted a career tournament best of 67 at the University of Georgia's event. She qualified, and played in, both the USGA Women's Amateur Public Links Championship and the USGA Women's Amateur Championship in 2004. She also excelled academically, earning spots in the East Carolina University Honor Roll all four years and Dean's List recognition in 2003 and 2004.

Daniel Claytor
Assistant Coach
Claytor was hired as an assistant coach for the Barton golf program in the spring of 2015. No stranger to Barton athletics, Claytor was a member of the Bulldog golf team from 2009 to 2013, earning All-American honors three separate times, Conference Carolinas First Team All-Conference three times and being named the 2011 Conference Carolinas Player of the Year as a sophomore. During his time as a Bulldog he won six collegiate events, competed in the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament twice (2010, 2012) and he set Barton's single season scoring record of 72.31 in 2011-12 and was named Barton's Male Athlete of the Year twice (2011, 2012). Claytor left Barton with the lowest scoring average in the history of the program and subsequently went on to compete professionally on the eGolf Gateway Tour. He made four cuts at the professional level, finishing third overall in the Mimosa Hills Open last summer. He graduated from Barton in the fall of 2013 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sport Management before spending the spring 2014 semester as an assistant coach at Coker College in Hartsville, S.C.
