Paula Lee

Head Coach

Lee enters her fourth season at Baton Rouge Community College and her twentieth season as a collegiate coach.  Lee has experienced a great deal of success at the helm of the BRCC Womens Program.  Each year Lees team has advanced to the Region #23 Tournament.  The 2012-2013 capped off Lees best season at BRCC.  She was named Miss/Lou Coach of the Year, her team finished with an overall record of 22-9, they were crowned Miss/Lou Conference Champions, Region #23 Runner-Ups and Kera St.John became the first Lady Bear to sign a Division I scholarship to Jackson State University. Lees success at BRCC can be attributed to her prior experience as a Division I Assistant Coach as well as her first Junior College Head Coach Position.  She brings with her wealth of knowledge and experience after spending seven years at Louisiana State University {LSU} under the direction of Hall of Fame Coach Sue Gunter, two years at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana, one year at Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee, three years as the Head Coach at Southern University at Shreveport, and two years at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. As the Head Coach at Southern University at Shreveport, Lee resurrected the dormant Womens Basketball Program.  Under Lees tutelage, the Lady Jaguars won the Louisiana Athletic Association of Community Colleges Championship for three consecutive years and qualified for the NJCAA Region #23 Tournament for two years where they lost in the Semi-Finals to Copiah-Lincoln Community College.  For her efforts and the teams success, Lee was named the LAACC Coach of the Year in 2006.  During her two year stint at McNeese State, Lee served as the First Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator.  She was very instrumental in recruiting and signing some of Louisianas top high school talent as well as helping McNeese improve in Conference play. As a member of the Louisiana State University womens basketball staff, Lee was part of the programs tremendous turn around.  The team improved from a 20-34 record prior to Lees arrival to a 68% winning percentage.  Her work paid huge dividends as LSU went on to earn three NCAA appearances, including two Sweet 16 trips and one Elite Eight finish.  Lee also impacted the program from the recruiting standpoint as she assisted in the signing of six recruiting classes, which were ranked nationally in the Top 20.  Among the athletes under Lees tutelage were three All-Americans and five players who are currently playing professionally.  Also, while at LSU, Lee spent five years teaching in the Kinesiology Department as well as designed and implemented the first Activity Course for High School students to take through Correspondence Study. Lee began her coaching career at Belaire High School in Baton Rouge, LA.  While at Belaire, she coached girls basketball, softball and cross country as well as taught Freshman English and Physical Education.  It was under Lees leadership and direction that the girls basketball program was established in 1990.  Four years later, Lee was named Basketball Coach of the Year after guiding her team to the State Play-Offs and a record of 20-9.  Lee was also named Coach of the Year for Softball in 1993. Lee is a native of New Roads, Louisiana and is the daughter of Robert and Theresa Lee.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University in Kinesiology with a minor in English.  Lee also obtained her Masters Degree from LSU in 1996 in Administration and Supervision.

Cayla Obillo

Assistant Coach

Bio Cayla Obillo begins her first season as an assistant coach on the Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) Women’s Basketball coaching staff. Known to many as Coach O, she is starting her second year of collegiate coaching. Coach O began her coaching career at Talladega College, where she reunited with her former coach, Andre Payne. This opportunity allowed her to gain hands-on experience and deeply immerse herself in the coaching profession. While at Talladega, she was honored to be selected for the 2024–25 Achieving Coaching Excellence® (ACE) Program, a prestigious initiative that recognizes rising coaching talent in women's basketball. Originally from Pass Christian, Mississippi, Obillo was a standout multi-sport athlete at Pass Christian High School, competing in volleyball, basketball, and track. However, she made her most significant impact on the basketball court, leading her team to back-to-back District Championships after a decade-long drought. Her high school achievements include being a three-time MVP, receiving the Heart of a Champion Award, being named Defensive Player of the Year, earning induction into the Hall of Fame, and being nominated as a McDonald’s All-American. Obillo went on to play collegiate basketball at Alcorn State University, where she served as the starting point guard for four years. During her tenure with the Lady Braves, the team became a national leader in steals per game, averaging 14. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Sport Management with an emphasis in Athletic Direction. After her time at Alcorn, she transferred to Southern University and A&M College to complete her master’s degree while playing her final season of eligibility. That season, the team made history by defeating powerhouse Oklahoma University.

Tronayia Issac

Coach

Bio Tronayia “Nae” Issac begins her first season as the BRCC Women’s Basketball Player Development Coach and returns for her second stint on Coach Lee’s coaching staff. Nae previously served as an assistant coach during the 2022-2023 season. She was a standout player for the Baton Rouge Lady Bears, starting her career with the team in the 2018-2019 season after an impressive athletic career at Lafayette Christian High School. While playing for the LCA Lady Knights, she was part of three state championship teams. During her first season at BRCC, Nae played in 27 games, finishing her freshman campaign with 190 points, 97 rebounds, 25 assists, 21 steals, and 4 blocks. Unfortunately, she was sidelined during her sophomore year by a medical issue that kept her out for the entire season. She returned in 2020-2021, playing in 19 games for the Lady Bears and continuing her dominant post play. Nae earned a scholarship to pursue her academic and athletic career at Mobile University; however, personal family issues prevented her from fully committing to that opportunity. In the 2022-2023 season, she joined Coach Lee’s staff, primarily focusing on developing post players and assisting in recruiting. After taking a few years off from coaching to manage personal family matters, she is back to share her experiences and help develop the Lady Bears student-athletes both on and off the court. Tronayia resides in Lafayette, Louisiana, where she cares for her brother, Trilon. She is continuing her education at Chipola College, where she plans to earn a degree in psychology and support the youth.
