Nick Radkewich

Head Coach

Radkewich is about to get even busier. Entering his second season as head coach for the Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track & Field programs, the former Olympian will add two more sports to his resume with the founding of Men's and Women's Triathlon programs in 2016. Radkewich, who represented the United States in the 2000 Sydney Olympics as a triathlete, came to Belmont Abbey from Endicott University in Beverly, Massachusetts, where he spent the two seasons as the Head Men's & Women's Cross Country Coach.  In his first year, he guided the women's cross country team to a third-place finish in Conference Carolinas with Elizabeth Labun earning second-team all-conference distinction. During the spring track season, four women and one man finished as all-conference honorees. A former IronKids National Champion in 1985, Radkewich went on to become the 1990 US Age Group National Champion & US Junior National Champion, the 1998 US Olympic Format Elite Champion, USA Triathlon Elite Athlete of the Year, Olympic Committee Triathlete of the Year and also represented the U.S. in the Goodwill Games twice, having placed fifth in one of those appearances. Radkewich is a certified USA Track & Field Registered Level 1 Coach and has been accepted into the USA Track & Field Level 2 Coach program. Radkewich also is a US Olympic Triathlon Level 1 Coach.  Prior to Endicott University, Coach Radkewich served as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Rivier University in Nashua, New Hampshire. His teams completed their most successful seasons in over a decade as they won Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Rookie of the Week twice, one Male Runner of the Week, had male and female overall invitational winners and the women won two team titles.  Radkewich also has served as a manager with the Elite Triathlon Academy (ETA) in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  In this role, he mentored and the developed the athletes through the rigors of elite triathlon training and adaptation to life as an Olympian hopeful. Radkewich was two-time Foot Locker National Championship qualifier in Florida and was a state cross country runner-up in cross country and track at Longwood Lyman High School.   He went on to compete in cross country and track at the University of Notre Dame, earning all-conference honors five times, including a conference runner-up in cross country, and in the 5,000 meter run (career-best 14:24). A 1993 graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor's of Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Radkewich went on to obtain his Masters of Science, Sports & Recreation Management-Coaching in 2010 from New England College. Radkewich will play a key role in the potential expansion of the College's track & field facilities.
