Jason Gault

Head Coach

Gault, formerly the Associate Head Coach for the Crusaders mens golf team, was promoted to Head Coach for both the mens and womens programs on June 14, 2013. Gault ascends to the head position after serving as the associate head coach for the mens program in 2012-13. He was the Crusaders part-time assistant coach for the men and women in 2011-12 and was a volunteer assistant the previous year. The 2013 Conference Carolinas Men's Coach of the Year, Gault guided the Abbey men to a national ranking as high as ninth, leading the Crusaders to a pair of wins and three other top five finishes. The Crusaders won the stroke play portion at the Conference Carolinas championships. Under Gaults tutelage, Adam Hedges and John Frisby were the top two ranked players in the Southeast Region, with Hedges earning his second consecutive Conference Carolinas Player of the Year honor. Hedges qualified for the NCAA National Championships after advancing in a playoff in the regional. A native of Gastonia, Gault attended Ashbrook High School and later matriculated to Lenoir-Rhyne. In addition to his golf role, Gault owns and operates his own courier business which specializes in office supply deliveries. Gault and his wife, Emily, who is a registered nurse at Carolinas Medical Center, have two children, Ethan (5) and Callie (2).

Chris Jones

Assistant Coach

Jones enters his first year as Assistant Mens and Womens Golf Coach at Belmont Abbey College. Jones comes to the Abbey after spending eight years as Head Golf Coach at Northern Guilford High School in Greensboro, NC. During his time at Northern, Jones he made the Nighthawks a power on the state level in the 3A Classification. The Womens program appeared in the state tournament five times in the first eight years of the schools existence, including State Runner-Up finishes in the 2011 and 2013 3A State Tournament. The Nighthawks have also captured the Mid State 3A Conference Regular Season and Conference Tournament crown four times (2010, 2011, 2012 & 2013). Coach Jones has also been honored by his peers by being named the Womens Golf Conference Coach of the three times (2010, 2011 & 2012). On the mens side, Jones has help guided the Mens Golf Program to the 2010 3A State Championship at Foxfire Golf and Country Club in Pinehurst, NC. The state championship, at the time, was the first for any sport at Northern Guilford High School. He was also named 2010 All-Area Mens Golf Coach of the Year by the Greensboro News-Record newspaper. The Nighthawks Mens team, also appeared in the state tournament in 2011 and 2014. Jones was named 2009 Triad 3A Conference Mens Golf Coach of the Year, after guiding the Nighthawk to a second place finish in the conference in the schools second year of existence. Under Jones time at Northern, ten former Nighthawk golfers have continued their playing career at the collegiate level. Along with his coaching at Northern, Jones worked ten years at the golf course at Grandover Resort and Conference Center. At Grandover, Jones responsibilities included tournament coordination, merchandising and scheduling both outside service and starters and rangers. No stranger to college athletics, Jones worked in the Sports Information Offices at VMI (1999-2002), Coastal Carolina University (2002-03) and UNC Greensboro (2003-2005). Jones, a Greensboro, NC native, was a four-year letterman in golf at Page High School and graduated in 1993. He continued his playing career at Lenoir-Rhyne, where he was a four-year letterwinner for the Bears.
