Bethel University Men's Baseball

Zartman, a native of Fulton, Indiana, earned his bachelor's at Bethel while on a baseball scholarship and was able to fashion a stellar career as a Pilot. He was All-Conference and a NCCAA All-American three years in a row (1996-98) and was selected to the NCCAA All-Tournament team in 1997. He finished his career as the Bethel all-time leader in home runs (37), RBIs (181), doubles (61) and slugging percentage (.625) and was inducted into the Bethel College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006. Upon graduation, Zartman was named head coach at Mid-Continent College in Mayfield, Kentucky for four years (1999-2003). He started the baseball program from scratch and directed the construction of the Cougar Baseball Complex. Zartman received his master's degree from Murray State University in 2001. Coach Zartman has seen many professions represented from his players.  They have gone on to medical school, apprenticeships, the business world, professional baseball, and the list goes on. Seth and his wife, Anitra, live with their children, Senica, Ty, Lyric, and Evik, in Mishawaka.   Coach Kiel Boynton is set for his second full year of action with the Bethel baseball team after joining the coaching staff in the spring of 2015. Boynton graduated with a bachelors degree in physical activity and sports studies from Cedarville University in 2006 while spending four seasons as a starting pitcher for the Yellow Jackets baseball program. Boynton joined the Cedarville coaching staff after graduation and spent five seasons with the program as a pitching and infield coach. During that time, Boynton helped coach David Ledbetter and Ryan Ledbetter who were both drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 3rd and 19th rounds of the MLB Draft, both of which are still active. Over his five-year tenure, Cedarville saw an improved ERA each season. Boynton followed his successful stint with Cedarville with a one-year stay at Corban College where he helped the program rebound from a four-win season in 2011 to a school record-tying, 28-win season in 2012. During that season, Boynton also coached right-handed hurler Jacob Kopra who signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Angels and is still active in their minor league system. Most recently, Boynton acted as the infield coach for Salem Academy High School. Kiel resides in South Bend with his wife, Faith, and son, Parker. Dick Siler begins his 20th year as an assistant coach at Bethel.   One of the true legends of Indiana high school baseball, Coach Siler has over 575 victories and 25 championships.  He has coached over 45 All-Conference players and 11 All-State players.  He was the NIC Coach of the Year in 1993 and his #50 jersey is retired at Elkhart Memorial High School.  He has been granted lifetime membership in the American Baseball Coaches Association and is a charter member of the organization. Siler also serves on the Board of Directors for the IHSBCA. He has also been inducted into the Ashland County Hall of Fame, the Elkhart County Hall of Fame and the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
