Bethel University Women's Golf

Hess is an alumnus of Bethel College and was a member of both the mens basketball and mens golf team from 1989-1993. After graduation, he took a position in the PGA Program at Willow Run Golf Club in Waukesha, WI. In the fall of 1994, Chris and his wife, Sheri, moved back to Bethel to serve as resident directors, a role they would serve in for the next ten years. Hess joined the mens basketball coaching staff for six seasons where the team piled up a 210-26 record and helped the Pilots to NAIA National Championships in 1995, 1997 and 1998, as well as an NCCAA National Championship in 2000. He was also part of the women's basketball coaching staff from 2006 to 2014 and was a part of Lady Pilot teams that won three NCCAA National Championships and qualified for the NAIA National Tournament five times. Coach Hess joined the men's golf coaching staff in 1994 (became head coach in 1999) and guided the Pilots for 14 seasons before handing the reins over and focusing on womens golf and his responsibilities as Assistant Athletic Director. Under Hess' leadership, the mens golf program won 37 tournaments, including a first ever Conference Championship in the fall of 2006 and have earned five trips to the NAIA National Tournament ('03, '07, '08, '09 and '13). Additionally, Hess was named Conference Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2006, and coached one NAIA All-American, six NCCAA All-Americans, five NAIA Academic All-Americans, and 17 NCCAA Academic All-Americans.
