Greg Vinson
Head Coach
Vinson, one of Birmingham-Southern College's most honored athletes, begins his first year as head men's soccer coach in 2016 after 20 seasons as the program's first full-time assistant coach. As a three-year team captain and starter at goalkeeper for the Panthers, Vinson set three individual single-season records including most saves (168), most shutouts (13), and lowest goals against average (1.04). For his career at BSC, he set records for most saves (420) and most career shutouts (27). He was named National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Honorable Mention All-America (1993), NSCAA All-South (1994), and was selected First-Team All-America and named ISAA/NAIA National Player of the Year (1995). Vinson helped lead Birmingham-Southern to a 21-3-1 record in his senior year, which included a No. 2 ranking in the national polls and a trip to the national semifinals in the college's first-ever national tournament appearance. He was one of two BSC soccer players chosen to participate in the NSCAA's All-Star Game in Florida in 1995. In the spring of 2000, Vinson was inducted into the BSC Sports Hall of Fame. He continued his soccer skills as the top goalkeeper for two seasons for the Birmingham Grasshoppers of the USISL. Vinson, a Birmingham native, graduated from Pelham High School where he received All-Metro team honors. After graduating from BSC in 1995 with a business degree, he went on to earn a master's degree in business. He and his wife, the former Melissa Boren, a BSC graduate and former captain of the women's soccer team, were married in 1998. The couple has two sons, Drew and Daniel.

Corey Smith
Head Coach
Former Birmingham-Southern Panther, Corey Smith was named the Head Coach of the women's program in May of 2023. Smith previously worked with the men's program as the full time assistant for four seasons. He helped them reach their first Southern Athletic Association conference tournament championship and NCAA Championship berth in 2022. Smith played on the Hilltop from 2013-2017. In his senior year, after suffering his fourth ACL tear, he served in a Student Assistant Coach capacity. His ability to overcome adversity earned Smith the Laura Malone Courage Award his senior year. After graduation, he continued to remain close to the Program, serving as Volunteer Assistant Coach in the 2018 season. Corey holds the USSF National C license. A native of Ranburne, Ala., Corey graduated Ranburne High School as valedictorian of his class. Smith graduated from BSC in 2017 with a psychology degree. In his time as a student, he became President of the Honor Council and graduated as an Honor Graduate. He graduated Cum Laude and as a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success, Psi Chi (International Psychology Honor Society), and Omicron Delta Kappa (National Leadership Honor Society). He was named to the Dean’s list multiple semesters.

Coleman Jennings
Assistant Coach
Coleman Jennings enters his first season as the Assistant Coach for the men's soccer program. Jennings spent the past four seasons as the leading goalscorer for the Panthers while winning two SAA championships. In his senior season, he became the Southern Athletic Association's all-time leading goalscorer and all-time leader in assists. In his career, Jennings helped the men's soccer program win their first Southern Athletic Association Tournament title and led them to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in BSC's Division III era. He is a two-time Larry Striplin Male Athlete of the Year, three-time SAA Offensive Player of the Year, two-time United Soccer Coaches Academic All-American selection, two-time United Soccer Coaches All-Region selection, two-time CSC Academic All-District selection, three-time All-SAA First Team selection, and a SAA Newcomer of the Year winner in 2019. He finished his playing career with 55 goals and 23 assists in 65 games. Jennings also has been a pivotal leader for the men's program having been captain since his sophomore season. Jennings has served as assistant coach for the Vestavia Hills High School varsity boys soccer team in the past four seasons. He graduated cum laude in 2023 in Psychology with a minor in Religion.
