Frieder helped the Terriers advance to the Patriot League semifinals after they snapped Lehigh's five-year streak of reaching the semis. Both William Kwok and Jay Leelavanich received All-Conference honors, marking the first time in over a decade that BU had two men recognized for their singles performances. During his time as a player, Frieder played singles in the top three slots and also was a key contributor in doubles. During his senior year in 2013-14, he posted a combined eight wins at No. 2 and 3 singles to help BU reach the Patriot League semifinals. Before attending BU, Frieder earned All-State First Team honors three times and was the state champion his final year.
