Coach
Mower joined the Brevard staff prior to the 2014-2015 season after a decorated career as a distance runner at Brevard. As a senior, he lifted the Tornados to a fourth-place finish at the South Atlantic Conference Championships, the schools best performance since joining the NCAA ranks in 2008. Mowers fourth-place individual finish at the 2013 SAC Championships and first team all-conference honors remain the high-water marks in program history. He also earned a spot on the all-conference second team as a sophomore during the 2011 season. The Ramseur, North Carolina native also found success in track, earning all-region honors from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as a senior in 2014 after finishing the season ranked third in the Southeast Region in the 3000 meter steeplechase and fifth in the 5000 meter run. He finished second and seventh, respectively, in the same events in the 2013 Southeast Region Championship. He also competed in the prestigious Penn Relays during his time as a runner at Brevard. Mower enjoyed two years, one as a runner and another as a coach, under the tutelage of Hall of Fame coach Norm Witek, who won four national cross country championships and a marathon title at the junior college level as Brevards head coach in the 1980s. Together, he and Witek reestablished the Tornado Relays following the completion of the Frank Patton Track that allowed Brevard to host a track event for the first time in over a decade. A certified personal trainer by the National Academy of Sports Medicine, Mower has worked at Perfect Balance Physical Therapy and the Brevard Health and Racquet Club in addition to his coaching duties.
