Nate Treinen

Coach

Treinen has overseen four national champions and 61 all-americans while being head coach.  Treinen, a 2003 BCU graduate, was a three-year member of the BCU Track team and still holds school records in the 4x100, 4x200 and sprint medley relays. Treinen is the third member of his family to graduate from Briar Cliff. He was a 1999 graduate of Remsen St. Mary's and a four-year track letterwinner for the Hawks. His medley relay team garnered all-state honors after second and third place state meet finishes. Treinen, his wife, Kristin, and their daughter, Paige, reside in Moville. Following three years as an assistant with the Briar Cliff cross country and track programs, Reggie Miller was promoted to head cross country coach in 2014. Miller continues to serve as an assistant within the BC track program. In his first season as head coach, Miller helped Tommy Thelen break a 14 year old school record with a time of 26:17 at the Briar Cliff Invite.  Miller came to Briar Cliff from Dordt College, where he served as the assistant athletic trainer.  Miller, a Remsen, Iowa native, was a mult-sport athlete at St. Mary's High School.  He went on to graduate from Simpson College in 2004, with a degree in athletic training.  While there, Miller was a member of the Simpson cross country and track teams. He became a Certified Athletic Trainer, licensed in Iowa, in 2005 and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist in 2007.  He earned a master's degree in exercise science from Wayne State College in 2008. Nate Probasco is in his first year as an assistant with the Briar Cliff track program. He will primarily assist with the Briar Cliff sprint corps. Probasco was a sprinter at the University of Nebraska from 2004 to 2007. A team captain for the Huskers, he was a four-time Big 12 conference individual champion and sixteen-time all-conference performer.  He earned three NCAA All-American awards and also was twice named NCAA Academic All-American.  He holds school records in the 200m dash, 4x100m relay, and 4x200m relay. A native of Scribner, Neb., Probasco competed for Scribner-Snyder High School and holds Class D state meet records in the 100 and 200m dashes. In addition to coaching, Probasco is an Assistant Professor of History at Briar Cliff. He holds a BA, MA and Ph.D all in history from the University of Nebraska.  Nate and his wife Heidi, along with daughter Remy and son A.J., reside in Sioux City.
