Nathan Koziol
Head Coach
Nathan Koziol has been named Head Coach for the Briar Cliff Football Program on March of 2026. Koziol began his collegiate coaching career at NCAA Division II Minot State University, serving as a graduate assistant from 2016–2018 before being promoted to full-time defensive backs coach in 2018. During his time there, he coached two All-NSIC selections, including Kiante Goudeau, who ranks second all-time in interceptions and first in defensive touchdowns in program history. From 2019–2020, Koziol served as the special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach at Division III Loras College, where his units produced two All-ARC honorees and led the conference in takeaways. He joined Briar Cliff in 2021 as the special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach, where he coached All-GPAC kicker Jonathan Branner, the program’s all-time leader in field goals made. Koziol was promoted to associate head coach and defensive coordinator in 2023. Under his leadership, the Charger defense has produced six All-GPAC selections, set school records for sacks, and posted the program’s lowest points allowed per game since 2019 while tying a school record for wins in a season. Koziol played quarterback and wide receiver collegiately, earned his bachelor’s degree from Loras College, and earned his master’s degree from Minot State University. Koziol and his wife Carly have one son named Cooper.

Nick Taylor
Assistant Coach
Nick Taylor serves as a defensive assistant for the Briar Cliff football program. Taylor brings a wide range of collegiate and high school coaching experience to the Chargers, including multiple coordinator roles across both sides of the ball. Prior to his current role at Briar Cliff, he served as defensive coordinator at Sioux City East High School, Alfred State College, Bethany College, and Briar Cliff. He also served as offensive coordinator at Eureka College and interim head coach at Bethany College. His coaching experience includes time as a defensive line coach and special teams coordinator at Morningside University, offensive line coach for the Salina Bombers (IFL), and assistant coach at McGill-Toolen High School. As a student-athlete, Taylor played offensive line at Sterling College (Kan.), where he also earned his bachelor's degree. He later earned his master’s degree in sports science from the United States Sports Academy. In addition to his coaching duties, Taylor serves as the athletic director and is a teacher at East Middle School in Sioux City. He and his wife, Trace, have one daughter, Maggie.

Jaiden-Aavery Stowers
Coach
Stowers enters his first season on the Briar Cliff football coaching staff, working with the wide receivers. Stowers competed in both football and baseball at Berry College before playing two seasons of football at Briar Cliff University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Human Performance from Briar Cliff. Originally from New Jersey and raised in Georgia, Stowers is the oldest son of Chris and Johana Stowers and has two younger siblings, Jared and Julianna.
