Lindsey Weatherford
Head Coach
Lindsey Weatherford has served as the head coach of the Briar Cliff University volleyball team since the 2019 season. During her tenure, eight Charger Volleyball athletes have been named to All-Great Plains Athletic Conference teams. Prior to coming to the Cliff, Weatherford most recently was an assistant at Luther College in Decorah, where the Norse were seeded third in the American Rivers Conference tournament, post-season. She has coached at the college and high school levels as both an assistant and head coach in her career with stints at Waldorf College and Kirkwood Community College in Iowa, among others. In 2006, as head coach, she took the North Butler Bearcats (Greene, IA) to compete at the Iowa Girls High School State Volleyball Tournament. Her most recent head coaching job at the collegiate level was at Wentworth Military Academy (Missouri) where she was the first-ever coach in program history and led the team to an 18-8 record in her second year and a national ranking. Her coaching experience dates back to 1999, when she was a coach for the Rapid Spikers Volleyball Club in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Weatherford played volleyball and basketball collegiately at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. She received a Bachelor of Special Studies in Physical Education/Wellness with an emphasis in Athletic Training. Weatherford also has a Master's in Education with a Coaching Concentration from The Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio, and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Special Education, Cross-Categorical K-12, from Pima College in Tucson, Arizona. During the off-season, Coach Weatherford coaches for Midwest Volleyball Power Club in North Sioux City, South Dakota.

Lauren Boatman
Head Coach
Lauren Boatman was named head coach of the Briar Cliff women’s volleyball program in the spring of 2025. In her first season at the Cliff, she helped the Charger volleyball team reach a 10-17 record, the most wins since 2021. A Sioux City native, Boatman joins the Chargers after five standout seasons as head coach at Bishop Heelan Catholic High School, where she led the Crusaders to the 2024 Iowa Class 4A State Championship with a 44–3 record. Her success earned her multiple honors, including 2024 Iowa Class 4A Coach of the Year, 2024 Western Iowa Class 4A District Coach of the Year, 2024 CYO Volleyball Coach of the Year, 2024-25 Overall Coach of the Year, and 2021 CYO Volleyball Coach of the Year. Boatman brings elite playing experience, having been a four-year letter winner at the University of Iowa from 2013–17. She finished her Hawkeye career with 1,087 kills, ranking 15th all-time in program history, appeared in 125 matches with 104 starts, and led Iowa in kills in each of her final three seasons. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in history with a minor in sport studies from Iowa and has strong ties to Briar Cliff, as her mother, Deborah, was a two-sport Charger athlete in volleyball and basketball. Outside of volleyball, Boatman enjoys spending time with her husband, Bo, and their two sons, Finn and Tate.

Brady Van Dusen
Assistant Coach
Van Dusen joined the Briar Cliff women’s volleyball staff as an assistant coach in the spring of 2025. In his first season on staff, he helped lead the Chargers to a 10-17 record, which is a program best since 2021. Van Dusen brings over a decade of coaching experience from Bishop Heelan Catholic High School, serving as a multi-sport assistant coach from 2012-2024. His coaching background includes volleyball (2021–24), basketball (2013–19), football (2015–17), track & field (2015–18), and strength training (2012–16). He was part of the Bishop Heelan volleyball staff that captured the 2024 Iowa state championship. A Sioux City native and Bishop Heelan graduate, Van Dusen played football at Briar Cliff University from 2011–2014, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in sports science. Van Dusen has strong ties to Briar Cliff, where he met his wife, Toni Beck Van Dusen, a former Charger volleyball player.

Riley Tew
Assistant Coach
Riley Tew joined the Briar Cliff women’s volleyball staff as a graduate assistant in the fall of 2025 Tew coached the JV program at BCU and helped coach the varsity program back to a 10-17 record, which is the program's best since 2021. A Sioux City, Iowa native, Tew is a graduate of Bishop Heelan Catholic High School and brings one year of coaching experience from the Bishop Heelan volleyball program. She adds a strong background in athlete development and sport performance to the Chargers’ staff. Tew earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from the University of Iowa and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in sports management at Briar Cliff University.
