Scott Lemn heads into his fifth season at the helm of the Bridgewater College football team in 2025. In 2024, the Eagles finished the season with an overall record of 6-4. Lemn guided 12 players to the All-ODAC list with three players who received First Team All-ODAC status. Brendan Robinson received Return Specialist of the Year by the Touchdown Club of Richmond and earned a spot on the First Team VaSID All-State. The Eagles had seven players named to the CSC Academic All-District Team. In 2023, the Eagles finished 7-4 on the year and earned a spot in the first annual Cape Henry Bowl as part of the Chesapeake Challenge involving the ODAC and Landmark Conference. Bridgewater took third in the league standings and faced a pair of top 10 teams in the national rankings. Lemn guided 10 Eagles to all-conference laurels including Kennedy Fauntleroy, Aaron Moore, Aaron Nice and Preston Turner who took first team honors. Lemn's squad posted a record of 9-2 in 2022, including the program's first trip to the Neptune Bowl in Virginia Beach. The Eagles ended the season among those Receiving Votes in the D3football.com national top 25 poll.Bridgewater averaged nearly 34 points per game, which is the highest since the ODAC Championship season of 2019. The Eagles boasted nine All-ODAC performers and a trio of all-region honorees. Jack Hendren was named an All-American by D3football.com, while Garrett Graves earned Specialist of the Year by the Touchdown Club of Richmond and VaSID. Aaron Nice capped the year's accolades as he claimed State Defense Rookie of the Year, as voted by the Virginia Sports Information Directors. The Eagles ended the season with a pair of national statistical championships as the kickoff unit led all of Division III in returns, while return man Brendan Robinson led the individual average list in the nation. The defense also boasted one of the best seasons in team history as the Eagles sat atop or close to the top the NCAA in several categories throughout the year. In his first season at the helm of the Eagles, Lemn guided a trio of student-athletes to D3football.com all-region laurels, including Garrett Graves who earned All-America accolades and first team all-region honors in his second season as the team's primary punter. In addition, linebacker Brett Tharp and defensive back Chase Rosenthal also claimed all-region honors and were selected as Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) First Team All-State. The team saw 10 players earn All-ODAC honors, which was the fourth time in the last six seasons the program received at least 10 postseason conference selections. Lemn claimed his first victory as a head coach with a 31-7 decision against Gettysburg on September 4 to start the 2021 season. He was previously an assistant with the Eagles for 11 years, including two as offensive coordinator. He directed the offensive line for eight seasons after coaching the defensive line in 2010, and was also the program's assistant head coach. Bridgewater football returned to the NCAA tournament in 2019, going 10-1 and clinching the ODAC championship at home vs. Randolph-Macon. The Eagles hosted a first round tournament game and were ranked #20 in the postseason polls. The offense featured the State and ODAC Player of the Year (quarterback Jay Scroggins) and Rookie of the Year (wideout Viante Tucker). BC's offense included three All-Region, five All-State and eight All-ODAC selections in 2019. The Eagles ranked fifth nationally in Division III in red zone offense (.943) in 2018, while averaging 33.6 points and 222 yards rushing per game in conference play. Right tackle Will Hoffman was a first team All-ODAC and second team All-State selection. In Lemn's eight seasons coaching the BC offensive line, the Eagles have had nine All-State selections on the unit- including four straight All-State nods at center from 2012-15, Lemn's former position. In total, he has had 18 All-ODAC selections on his units since joining the Bridgewater staff in 2010. In 2016, the Eagles had an All-State selection at offensive line for the sixth straight year with senior transfer Jack Howerton. Jacob Heaton also gave the Eagles an All-ODAC center for the seventh consecutive season in 2017. Center Sean Douglass was named All-State in 2013, 2014 and 2015, with the Eagles earning a total of six All-ODAC offensive line selections over those three seasons. Douglass was also an Academic All-American and the ODAC Scholar-Athlete in his senior season. Center Shawn Otte was joined by fellow lineman Kyle Keister as first team All-State choices in 2012. In 2011, the Eagles had three All-ODAC offensive linemen, including two All-State selections and honorable mention D3proday.com All-American George Sheaffer. Prior to coming to Bridgewater, Lemn began his coaching career at conference rival Randolph-Macon. Prior to Lemn's time with the Yellow Jackets, he was a first team All-American at James Madison in 2008 (AP, The Sports Network, Walter Camp Foundation, College Sporting News) and was the Rimington Award winner as the nation's top center while aiding the Dukes to a FCS semifinal appearance and a No.1 ranking for much of the '08 season. The two-time, first-team All-CAA selection graduated in December 2008 with a degree in kinesiology and a concentration in sports management. Derrick Jenkins
Coach
Derrick Jenkins joins the Bridgewater football staff prior to the start of the 2024 season. In the Spring season, Jenkins was a volunteer with the staff following his career in the Crimson & Gold. While with the staff, Jenkins will serve as the corners back coach.

Bridgewater College is a D3 school in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia located 10 minutes south of James Madison University. Currently coming off the 3rd consecutive winning season in a row this program has a rich winning history. Last conference championship coming in 2019. A national championship appearance in 2001. We are a blue collar program who wants guys that are hungry to exceed their football potential in 4 years while receiving a degree!

Kevin Saxton II

Bridgewater College Head Football Coach Scott Lemn has announced the addition of Kevin Saxton II to his coaching staff in February of 2026. Saxton will serve as the Eagles' offensive coordinator and comes in with experience in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference as a player and coach during his time at Emory & Henry before their departure from the league. Saxton began his playing career at Appalachian State before transferring to EHU after his freshman season. The North Carolina native was named the ODAC Rookie of the Year in 2014 after an impressive first season for Emory and Henry. After his playing career with the Wasps, Saxton joined the coaching staff at his alma mater and was there until the summer of 2021. Saxton then went back to coach at the high school level in his home state and returned to the college ranks a year later as the co-offensive coordinator at Benedict College. Most recently, Saxton served as an offensive assistant for Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs. Working mainly with quarterbacks, Saxton has coached in a pair of Super Bowls, including coaching the Chiefs during the Super Bowl LVIII victory. "I am ecstatic for the addition of Kevin Saxton II," said Lemn. "I've had the opportunity to coach against Kevin dating back to his time at Emory & Henry as both a player and a coach, and I couldn't be more excited to have him step in as our Offensive Coordinator. His experience spans multiple levels, highlighted by being part of a Super Bowl run with the Chiefs. Kevin is an outstanding leader, and we're thrilled to have him join our program." Saxton will be the signal caller for an Eagles' offense that was in the middle of the ODAC last season in passing and one of the most efficient in the league in the red zone.

Peyton Allen

Peyton Allen arrives at Bridgewater to serve as the offensive line coach beginning with the 2024 season. A native of Maryland, Allen joins the coaching staff as the team’s newest defensive line coach following a two-year stint at Illinois College. With the Blueboys, Allen guided three players to all-conference selections including one on the first team and saw the team win the Midwest Conference championship and advancing to the first round of the NCAA postseason. He was part of a defense that ranked ninth in Division III. In addition, Allen was the head JV coach and served as the team’s video coordinator and assistant equipment manager. Allen returns to his alma mater after graduating from the school in 2019. He was a member of the football team as a linebacker and a running back until his graduation. In addition to his time at Illinois College, Allen spent time at Texas A&M Commerce as the assistant defensive line coach. He also served as the interim director of football operations and was the JV team’s run game coordinator for the defense. Prior to that, Allen was the inside linebackers coach for Lycoming where he also assisted recruiting efforts inside of Maryland and ran social media accounts. He got his start at the Maine Maritime Academy as the defensive line coach and guided the kickoff unit.

Dustin Green

Dustin Green joins the Bridgewater College football staff as the assistant defensive backs coach prior to the 2022 season. Green steps into a coaching role with the team that he featured on for the last five seasons as a safety and a linebacker. A three-time All-ODAC selection, Green finished last season third on the Eagles with 61 tackles with 2.5 TFL and 1.0 sack. He was selected to the All-ODAC second team following the 2020-21 season on his way to a VaSID Second Team All-State nomination. Green received his bachelors from Bridgewater College in 2021 before completing his masters degree at BC in 2022.
