Robert Kenneally
Coach
Kenneally 90 will begin his second season as the head womens ice hockey coach at Brown in 2016-17, having taken over the position on April 1, 2015. In his first season, Kenneally led the Bears to ECAC and Ivy League points on the road at Cornell and Harvard for the first time in nearly 10 years. Kenneally also guided two student-athletes to ECAC Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week accolades. A native of Warwick, R.I., Kenneally was a standout hockey player at Warwick Veterans Memorial High School and the Kent School (Conn.). He joined the Brown Athletics staff in 1991, and has held a myriad of positions within the Brown Athletic Department, including successfully guiding the mens and womens golf program as head coach/Director of Golf Operations from 1998-2002. Kenneally has been the sport supervisor for football, baseball, womens basketball, gymnastics, mens ice hockey, and mens soccer, and oversees the Budget and Finance Office, Athletic Communications and Marketing and Promotions. He also is the Director of Student-Athlete Academic Support Services, oversees eligibility, serves as University Academic Advisor, and has worked on the admissions board in the recruitment of student-athletes. He has served on several ECAC Hockey Committees and is currently a committee member for College Hockey Inc. He is a member of the Hall of Fame at Warwick Vets, where he is the all-time leading scorer in school history. A 1990 graduate of Brown, Kenneally enjoyed an outstanding four-year career as a high-scoring forward for the Brown hockey team, leading the team in scoring in 1987-88. As a senior, Kenneally received the Charles A. Lanigan Memorial Trophy, given to the senior hockey player who shows the most improvement, leadership and dedication during his varsity career. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Behavior and Management. After graduation from Brown, he spent a year teaching and coaching at the Rectory School in Pomfret, Conn. Bob and his wife, Valerie, have been married for 20 years and have a son, Matthew, and a daughter, Megan. The Kenneally family resides in Western Cranston, R.I.

Kirsti Hussey

Hussey helped lead the Bears to ECAC and Ivy League points on the road at Cornell and Harvard for the first time in nearly 10 years. Two student-athletes also earned ECAC Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week accolades. Hussey came to College Hill after spending the last three seasons as the head coach of the girls ice hockey team for St. Marks School, in addition to being an Assistant Athletic Director. As the head coach, Hussey was responsible for player instruction and development, creating and running the strength and conditioning program, developing and implementing the overall recruiting strategy and handling administrative responsibilities associated with the program operations, including team travel and equipment ordering. Before arriving at St. Marks, Hussey held previous assistant coaching positions at the University of Connecticut and Hamilton College. In addition to her college coaching experience, Hussey worked USA Hockey Girls Player Development Camps from 2009-2015. Her various roles at the camps have included head coach, assistant on-ice director, and on-ice skills coach and evaluator. As a collegiate player, Hussey began her career at Bowdoin College (2001-03) where she guided Polar Bears to two NCAA Frozen Fours while earning First Team All-American, NESCAC First Team and Rookie of the Year. She was also tied for first in Division III for defenseman scoring. Hussey finished up her collegiate career at Dartmouth (2003-05) where she again led her team to back-to-back NCAA Frozen Four appearances as well as an Ivy League Championship in 2004. Hussey has participated in the USA 18's and 19's Junior National Camp and was twice a part of the USA Women's National Team Festival in 2002-03. She was invited to the 2003 USA Women's National Team Tryouts as well. Before moving on to coaching, Hussey played for the Oakville Ice and the Ottawa Raiders of the National Womens Hockey League from 2005-07. Hussey graduated from Dartmouth in 2005 with a degree in Biological Sciences. She lives in South Easton, Mass. with her husband Seth and their black lab, Easton.

Jillian Kirchner

Kirchner, a former standout at Boston University with an array of coaching and playing experience, enters her fourth season as an assistant coach with the Brown womens ice hockey program in 2016-17. In her first year with the team in 2013-14, Kirchner helped guide goalie Aubree Moore 14 to All-Ivy and All-ECAC honors, Sarah Robson 15 to NEHWA Unsung Hero accolades, and 17 Bears to ECAC All-Academic laurels. In 2014-15, she aided the team in claiming the Mayors Cup from crosstown rival Providence College for the third time in four years and to a 3-2 mark against Hockey East opponents. Kirchner helped lead the Bears to points on the road at Cornell and Harvard in 2015-16 for the first time in nearly 10 years. Kirchner spent the 2012-13 season as an assistant coach for the St. Norbert College women's ice hockey team and was responsible for planning and implementing daily practice and game routines, analyzing video, planning road trips and coordinating the team's recruiting efforts. During her year with the Green Knights she helped guide the team to an 18-10-2 overall record and a victory over UW-River Falls in the NCHA O'Brien Cup playoffs championship game. The win earned St. Norbert its first berth in the NCAA Division III Women's Ice Hockey Championships. Her coaching experience extends beyond the collegiate level, as she has served as the head coach for several youth hockey development programs, including B9 Hockey Training, the Wisconsin Elite Hockey League and in Green Bay Girls Hockey Performance Development Sessions. Kirchner has also worked various hockey camps and showcases around the country over the past six years, helping to plan and implement a structured curriculum that develops players' skills both on and off the ice. Her skills and expertise have made her a valuable asset to the Cammi Granato Hockey Schools, the Pro Ambitions Hockey School, Brown Hockey Camps and the Chicago Fury Elite Showcase. In addition to her coaching knowledge, Kirchner brings a wealth of playing experience at the highest levels of the sport. A four-year member of the women's ice hockey team at Boston University, she served as an assistant captain during her senior year and helped the Terriers win the Hockey East Championship in 2010. The team made it past the first round in the NCAA Division I tournament during her sophomore and senior campaigns, and played its way into the national championship game during the 2011 season. Kirchner was named a Hockey East All-Star in 2011 and earned a spot on the Hockey East 10th Anniversary All-Star Team in 2012. Additionally, after being drafted 37th overall by the Boston Blades in 2011, she spent the 2011-12 season with the program and competed as a professional hockey player in the Canadian Women's Hockey League. Kirchner graduated from Boston University in 2011 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Special Education with a focus on Moderate Disabilities in students from kindergarten to eighth grade. In addition to her coaching duties at St. Norbert, she also spent time as a gym and health teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School in De Pere, Wisconsin. "I am really excited to be joining the Brown Bear family and being a part of such a distinguished institution," said Kirchner upon her hire. "I am eager to bring both my previous playing and coaching experiences to Brown University. I look forward to new challenges that the Division I level will bring."
