Markus Allen
Assistant Coach
Allen was recognized by the USTFCCCA as the Women's National Assistant Coach of the Year, and the Atlantic Region Assistant Coach of the Year for both the men and the women during the 2011 indoor season and again for the women's team during the 2012 indoor season. His sprinters have been a huge factor in capturing indoor SUNYAC Championships on the women's side in 2009, 2010 and 2011, and men's indoor SUNYAC and ECAC Championships in 2011. A former two-time national champion and six-time All-American sprinter at the junior college level with Erie Community College, he went on to complete his collegiate running career at Buffalo State. As a Bengal, he set the school indoor records in the 55 and 200-meter dashes and also set the New York State record in the 200. Markus also captured seven New York State and five SUNYAC individual and relay championships. At Buffalo State, he has coached several individual SUNYAC Champions, All-Americans and five individuals that have captured six national championships. A native of Harlem, he currently resides in Buffalo.

Ray Shadowens
Coach
Shadowens completed his first season as the head mens and womens cross country in 2015 and also serves as an assistant with the track & field programs. Prior to coming to Buffalo State, Shadowens coached at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, serving as an assistant with the mens and womens cross country and track and field teams. He also previously served as an assistant coach at Bates College in Maine and Roger Williams University in Rhode Island. Shadowens possesses USTFCCCA certifications as an endurance event specialist and in track and field program management. He is also Level I certified and Level II in jumps by USA Track and Field, in addition to holding a Level I sports performance coach certification from USA Weightlifting. Shadowens, a native of Arp, Texas, competed as a student-athlete at Buffalo State for three seasons after transferring from Division I Stephen F. Austin. A hurdler and decathlete as a Bengal, he was a SUNYAC champion in the 110-meter hurdles and was an NCAA provisional qualifier in the 55-meter hurdles. Shadowens completed his bachelors degree in hospitality and business administration from Buffalo State in 2009 and earned his masters in sports management from Lasell College in 2014.
