Hired at Buffalo State: Summer 2025 Prior to Buffalo State: Assistant Coach - Buffalo State (2024) Alma Mater: SUNY Brockport '17 (Bachelor's) SUNY ESF (Master's) Buffalo State has announced that Bean Minerd has been elevated to the interim women's lacrosse coach for the upcoming 2026 season. Minerd served last year as an assistant coach with the Bengals that featured one of their most successful seasons in program history. Minerd joined the Bengals after previously serving six seasons as the assistant women's lacrosse coach at her alma-mater LaFayette High School. In 2013, she was a recipient for the US Lacrosse Native American Tewaaraton Scholarship, and she was named to the First-Team All-League in high school. Prior to her coaching career, Minerd was a standout defender at SUNY Brockport where she started in 72 games collecting three goals, two assists, 87 ground balls, 70 caused turnovers, and 60 draw controls over her career. Minerd was named the 2017 SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year while also earning First Team All-SUNYAC honors and a spot on the SUNYAC All-Tournament Team. She also made the 2017 IWLCA All-Region Team and earned a spot on the ECAC DIII North Women’s Lacrosse All-Star Team and the IWLCA Senior All-Star Team. Her senior campaign featured 38 draw controls, 31 caused turnovers, 27 ground balls, three goals and an assist as the Golden Eagles reached the Third Round of the NCAA Tournament. Minerd is currently a member of the Haudenosaunee Women’s National Team where she has been an active player since 2011. The team will travel to Tokyo in 2026 for the FIL World Cup Games after recently earning bronze in the Pan-American Lacrosse Association Tournament. She was named to the PALA All-Tournament Team, received All-Tournament Defensive honors, and was recognized with the Heart & Spirit of Lacrosse Award. The Haudenosaunee National Team will await the decision of the International Olympic Committee if they are allowed to compete under the Haudenosaunee flag for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, where Minerd will continue to compete. Lindsay Abbott

Abbott was named Buffalo State's head womens lacrosse coach in August 2014. In her first season, Abbott lead the Bengals to their first SUNYAC playoff appearance since the 2012 season. Sarah Lorusso, Cassie Saint-Vil and Alanna Herne were all named All-SUNYAC. Herne, a standout rookie, also earned IWLCA All-Region Honors. Buffalo State finished the season 4-13 overall and 2-6 in the conference. Prior to Buffalo State, Abbott served as an assistant coach at her alma mater Cortland, helping lead the Red Dragons to a 20-0 start and a No. 1 national ranking in 2014. The previous year, Abbott was an assistant coach at Bates College in another of the nations premier Division III womens lacrosse conferences, the NESCAC. She also has prior experience as a head coach with the BULL Syracuse Youth Lacrosse League. Abbott, who earned a bachelors degree in Exercise Science at Cortland, completed her career as the Red Dragons all-time leader in points (441), goals (256) and assists (185). Her 441 points rank third all-time in NCAA Div. III history, behind Buffalo States Karen Shaddock, who ranks second with 457. Abbott was Cortlands first-ever four-time All-American, earning first team honors as a junior and senior and was selected first team All-SUNYAC four times. She was named SUNYAC Player of the Year twice and earned ECAC Div. III Offensive Player of the Year honors two times. A native of Onondaga, NY, Abbott competed in and served as team captain in soccer, basketball and lacrosse at Onondaga Central.

Anastacia Wells
Assistant Coach
The Buffalo State women's lacrosse team, led by first year head coach Bean Minerd, has announced the addition of Anastacia Wells to the coaching staff for the upcoming 2026 season. Wells will serve as the primary assistant for the Bengals. Wells played 64 games for Buffalo State from 2022-2025 and stamped herself into the record books as one of the premier defenders in program history. Wells set the program marks for caused turnovers in a season with 45 as well as career caused turnovers with 131, and ground balls with 161. Wells also served as one of the team captains this past season. A Second Team All-SUNYAC selection in 2022, Wells graduated from Buffalo State following last season with a degree in biology.
