Hired at Buffalo State: Winter 2010 Prior to Buffalo State: Assistant Coach - Buffalo State (2009-10) Alma Mater: Baldwin-Wallace ’09 Maria has been the Bengals' women's volleyball coach since 2011 and guided Buffalo State to the program's first-ever conference championship in 2013.  Roberts was also named senior woman administrator in 2018. Following the 2024 season, Roberts led her team to the SUNYAC Championship for the first time since 2013 while also earning SUNYAC Coach of the Year honors. Roberts became the first coach volleyball coach in program-history to earn her 100th career victory when her Bengals defeated Nazareth on Sept. 29, 2015. In her 15th season at the helm in 2025, Roberts picked up her 200th career win at Buffalo State against Rochester. Under Roberts in 2013, Buffalo State posted a 25-10 mark and secured a No. 2-seed in the SUNYAC Championships. The Bengals defeated Cortland and New Paltz en route to the league title, before falling to University of Chicago in the first round of the NCAA Championships. Buffalo State advanced to the SUNYAC Semifinals in 2014 and played in the SUNYAC Championship match at home in 2012, after finishing the season 26-8 and a perfect 6-0 in SUNYAC West divisional play. Roberts joined the staff as an assistant in 2009 after graduating from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. As a player, she was a four-year standout with the Yellow Jackets as a middle hitter. She finished her career third in school history in blocks and fifth in kills. She was recognized on numerous all-tournament teams and was an All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree and her team's MVP as a senior. Roberts was also active coaching during her college years, working several summer camps and serving as a head coach in the Pride Volleyball Club in Elyria, Ohio. She was also active locally, assisting with the Niagara Frontier Volleyball Club. A native of Clarence, NY, she is a graduate of Mt. St. Mary Academy. Daniel Miranda

Hired at Buffalo State: June 2022 Prior to Buffalo State: Head Coach - Elmira College (2017-2022) Head Coach - Genesee Community College (2015) Alma Mater: Nazareth ’12 (Bachelor’s) Nazareth ’14 (Master’s) Daniel Miranda completed his third season leading the Buffalo State men's volleyball team in 2026. Miranda's team put up a historic campaign in their third season of action that featured a second consecutive AMCC title and trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Bengals won their first NCAA Tournament game with a five-set thriller over New Jersey City before falling to #1 Springfield in the Sweet 16. In their first season in the AMCC in 2025, Miranda led the Bengals to a perfect 6-0 conference record and an eventual AMCC Championship and NCAA Tournament berth; both were the first in program history. Miranda was also named the AMCC Coach of the Year in 2025 and 2026, was named the AVCA Region II Coach of the Year in 2026, and saw Malachi Jackson earn AMCC Player of the Year in 2025, and Gavin Wilczewski earn the same honor in 2026. Wilczewski was recognized on the AVCA Region II Team and the program's first AVCA All-American in that same season. Miranda also oversaw Kellen Palmer in 2026 win the program's first AMCC Newcomer of the Year honor.   Miranda, a Buffalo native, returns home to the Queen City after six seasons leading the Elmira College men’s volleyball program, while also serving as the College’s women’s volleyball head coach in his final three seasons. The United Collegiate Volleyball Conference (UVC) Coach of the Year in 2018, Miranda earned a 68-94 overall record after finishing the 2022 campaign with a 17-13 record and a berth into the UVC Tournament.   His 2018 team saw the Soaring Eagles post a 20-12 record, earning statement wins over No. 5 Dominican (Ill.) and No. 14 SUNY New Paltz in five sets, in addition to sweeping a pair of matches from longtime rival Nazareth. The Soaring Eagles earned a berth in the UVC Tournament for the first time since 2015. Elmira also earned a national ranking during that season, soaring as high as 13th in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) rankings.   In his six seasons, Miranda had 11 Empire 8 All-Conference selections on the women’s side, three United Volleyball All-Conference nods on the men’s side, the Empire 8 Rookie of the Year during the 2020 season, and earned the aforementioned UVC Coach of the Year honors during the 2018 season. Additionally, Miranda had three AVCA National Players of the Week during his time with the men's program.   Prior to his time at Elmira, Miranda spent the 2015-16 season as the head coach of the Genesee Community College women's volleyball team in Batavia, N.Y. During his tenure with GCC, Miranda helped the team register a 34-9-2 overall record and guided the Cougars to runner-up finishes at the 2015 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region III Division III and the Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) Tournaments.    Five GCC student-athletes received postseason honors at the conclusion of the 2015 season under the tutelage of Miranda. Two athletes were named to the NJCAA All-Region III First Team, while three others received honors from the WNYAC, including two All-WNYAC First-Team selections as well as an All-WYNAC Second-Team recipient.   Prior to his appointment with the Cougars, Miranda was the head coach of the Fairport High School Boy's Junior Varsity Team from 2013-14. Miranda also served as the head coach of the Pace Bootlegger Volleyball Club, based out of Rochester, New York, from 2012-16.   While working with Pace, Miranda coached U-12, U-15, and U-16 teams. In addition to developing players at all three levels, his most recent work has been with the U-16 group, one that qualified for nationals at the first tournament of the year at the Rochester Can-Am Tournament. Additionally, his U-16 Pace Bootleggers finished within the top-five of each tournament it competed in leading up to the national tournament this past season.   Miranda is a 2012 graduate of Nazareth College, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. He also stayed for another two years at Nazareth to receive a Master's of Science degree in accounting.   During his undergraduate studies, Miranda spent four years as a member of the Nazareth men's volleyball team from 2009-12 and helped the Golden Flyers amass 105 victories, as well as four winning seasons. He was a member of the 2011 team that rattled off 22 consecutive wins to end the season with a 31-3 overall record, en route to the Molten Division III National Championship title in just the program’s seventh season of intercollegiate play.   Miranda played in 77 career matches for the Golden Flyers as a middle hitter and right-side hitter. He had a super-efficient career in terms of offensive production with 230 kills and a .377 attack-percentage (230k-70e-424att). Meadow Wittman

Buffalo State women's volleyball coach Maria Roberts is pleased to announce the addition of Meadow Wittman to her coaching staff for the 2025 season. Wittman joins the Bengals after a successful collegiate career at SUNY Cortland.   Wittman was a five-year member of the women's volleyball team at SUNY Cortland as a setter where she was part of three SUNYAC Championship teams. She earned a spot on the SUNYAC All-Tournament Team in 2022 and eclipsed 1,000 assists for her career.   Academically, Wittman earned a spot on the Division III Women's Volleyball Academic All-District team and earned her bachelor's degree from SUNY Cortland in physical education and her master's in health education.   A native of Colden, NY, Wittman returns to the Buffalo area currently serving as a health and physical education teacher at Sweet Home Middle School.
