Craig Rond
Assistant Coach
Rond has been tabbed the Division III Coach of the Year three times in his eight year tenure with the 2006 Kingsmen and 2007 and 2009 Regals. In 2009 and only the sixth year of the program's existence, Rond took the Regals to CLU's first ever SCIAC water polo title in school history. The women's program has won a pair of Collegiate III Championships including its latest in 2010. At the time the Kingsmen earned the first ever SCIAC title game appearance in school history during the fall of 2008. He has coached 11 Collegiate All-Americans and over 30 Academic All-Americans at Cal Lutheran. As an athlete he swam at Pepperdine and Ventura College where he went on to become a state champion and All-American in both swimming and water polo. He completed his collegiate career as captain of the San Jose State University men's water polo club. He was elected into the Ventura College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007 for his career accomplishments. Rond went on to compete in masters open water swimming, winning the five-mile open water national championship, as well as being a member of three Ocean Lifeguard National Championship teams. He later founded the South Coast Water Polo Club in 1989 which is now one of the longest running club water polo teams in California. Craig earned a masters degree in Exercise and Sports Science in 1994 from the University of Arizona. Rond teaches Social Science at Thousand Oaks High School where he conceived one of the first high school girl's water polo programs in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. He currently lives in Simi Valley with his wife Jennifer and three children Lexi, Delaney and Cade. In his free time he enjoys swimming, running, surfing and camping with his family.
