Mike Scott

Head Coach

Mike Scott enters his ninth season with the CSU Bakersfield men’s basketball coaching staff in Fall of 2025. He was an assistant coach of the Roadrunners for his first eight seasons before being named Acting Head Coach on Sept. 25, 2025. In Scott’s first eight years in Bakersfield, the `Runners have produced eleven All-Conference honorees, including two First Team members. In the classroom, the `Runners have also enjoyed nine Academic All-Conference nods in Scott’s tenure. The 2018-19 season saw CSUB return to the postseason as Bakersfield accepted an invitation to the CollegeInisder.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) and proved to be a force on the road. CSUB won back-to-back games away from home before falling in the CIT quarterfinals. Prior to his arrival in Bakersfield, Scott spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Paris Junior College in Paris, Texas (2015-17). During Scott’s tenure, he recruited two NJCAA All-Region 14 players for the Dragons and eight student-athletes that would graduate and attend NCAA Division I schools. During the 2014-15 season, Scott was an assistant coach at Texas A&M International in Laredo, Texas, where he recruited two All-Conference players: Arkeem Joseph and Anthony Alston. The Dust Devils won the Heartland Conference Championship that year. Scott was also an assistant at Wayland Baptist where they won two conference championships and the first-ever conference tournament championship in school history. Prior to the 2013-14 season, Scott spent the 2012-13 season at his alma mater, Fairleigh Dickinson. Scott began his coaching career as an assistant coach for Midland College in spring of 2012. He played basketball professionally in a German league. At the end of the 2011 season, he returned to the United States to begin coaching. Scott graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson with a degree in media communications in 2011. Scott was also a two-year letterwinner at NCAA Division 1 Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, N.J., and a member of the Northeast Conference. Prior to his senior season, Scott was named to the pre-season all-conference team. He averaged 13.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game over his two-year career for the Knights. Prior to FDU, Scott played at the College of Eastern Utah for his sophomore season, helping lead the Golden Eagles to a 25-7 record that included a 14-game win streak. He averaged 8.5 points and 4.6 assists per game, earning him honorable mention all-conference. Scott attended TCU his freshman season, where he played in 29 games. Scott and his wife have a son.

Ray Alvarado

Associate Head Coach

Ray Alvarado is in his first season at Cal State Bakersfield in Fall of 2025, serving the Roadrunner women's basketball team as the Associate Head Coach. Alvarado brings more than two decades of experience across multiple levels of collegiate and high school basketball to CSUB, with a strong reputation for program building, recruiting, and player development. Alvarado most recently served as Head Coach at Hawai'i Pacific University, where he led the women's basketball program for two years. Prior to his tenure at HPU, Alvarado spent 13 seasons as Head Coach at College of the Sequoias in Visalia, Calif., where he guided the program to consistent success, including multiple CCCAA State Championship Elite 8 appearances and a Final Four berth in 2022. During his time at COS, Alvarado earned Central Valley Conference Coach of the Year honors five times and was recognized for his leadership in advancing women's basketball throughout the region. He also established robust recruiting pipelines in the Central Valley, developed off-season training programs, and spearheaded community engagement initiatives. In addition to his collegiate experience, Alvarado previously led high school programs at Bullard High School and Sanger High School, with notable accomplishments such as a CIF State Tournament appearance and multiple Coach of the Year awards. Alvarado holds a Master of Sports Science with an emphasis in Sports Coaching from the United States Sports Academy and a bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Fresno State.

Brent Wrapp

Assistant Coach

Brent Wrapp enters his eighth season with the CSU Bakersfield men’s basketball coaching staff in Fall of 2025. He served as the Director of Basketball Operations for the Roadrunners for the first five years before being promoted to Assistant Coach heading into the 2023-24 season. Wrapp was a four-year letterwinner (2014-18) and a three-year starter for the CSUB men’s basketball team. The point guard recorded 100+ assists in all four seasons and tied the school’s all-time record in career assists with 520. The record total, shared with Kenny Warren (1990-94), ranked Wrapp 16th all-time in Western Athletic Conference history. During his time as a `Runner, Wrapp led CSUB to its first WAC Tournament title and first NCAA Tournament appearance at the Division I level in 2015-16. The following season, Wrapp helped Bakersfield earn its first WAC regular-season championship before leading the `Runners to the semifinals of the National Invitational Tournament, held in Madison Square Garden. During the run, CSUB became the first No. 8 seed in NIT history to reach the semifinals. A native of Boulder, Colo., Wrapp was named BoCoPreps.com Player of the Year in his senior season. That year, he averaged 16.4 points, 8.9 points, and 6.7 assists per game for Fairview High School while leading the state of Colorado (5A level) in assists. A 2017 graduate of CSU Bakersfield, Wrapp earned a degree in business management.

Brandon Barnes

Assistant Coach

Brandon Barnes enters his seventh season as an assistant coach for the CSU Bakersfield men’s basketball team in Fall of 2025. In Barnes' five years as an assistant in Bakersfield, the `Runners have produced six All-Conference honorees (Taze Moore 2021, Justin Edler-Davis 2021, Justin McCall 2022, Antavion Collum 2023, Kaleb Higgins 2024, Jemel Jones 2025), including a First Team nod in 2021 (Taze Moore). In the classroom, the `Runners have also enjoyed nine Academic All-Conference nods in Barnes tenure.   A familiar face around Bakersfield’s program, Barnes made his return to CSUB after spending the 2018-19 season as an assistant coach for the Houston Rockets’ NBA G-League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Barnes helped the squad win the 2019 G-League Championship as the Vipers defeated the Long Island Nets in Game 3 of the Finals, 129-112.   Rio Grande Valley helped four G-League players earn call-ups to the NBA in 2018-19 including Gary Payton II, Bruno Caboclo, Michael Frazier II, and Brandon Sampson. Barnes worked closely with the G-League's Most Improved Player, Michael Frazier, as well as Rockets assignee and G-League Finals MVP Isaiah Hartenstein, who played 28 games with the Rockets last year. As the defensive coordinator for the Vipers, Barnes helped Rio Grande Valley move from ranking near the bottom of the G-League in nearly every category to at least Top 10 in defensive rebounds, steals (3rd), Blocks (2nd), opponent FG% (5th), and turnovers forced (5th). With Barnes' father and CSU Bakersfield's Head Coach, Rod Barnes, being a defensive-minded coach, Barnes' roots run deep into a defensive culture and he imparted that on the Vipers, who posted their highest Defensive Efficiency Rating since the 2012-13 season.   Prior to his time with the NBA G-League, Barnes was a member of the CSUB men’s basketball coaching staff, serving as the Director of Basketball Operations for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons. During Barnes’ first stint with the `Runners, he helped the team win its first Western Athletic Conference regular-season title and guided CSUB through a historic run to the NIT semifinals in Madison Square Garden.   Before joining the CSUB coaching staff, Barnes was a two-year letterwinner for the `Runners. After transferring to Bakersfield from Lipscomb University, Barnes was a member of the last CSUB squad that competed as an NCAA Division I independent (2012-13) and the first for the school to compete in the WAC (2013-14). As a `Runner, Barnes averaged 11 points and five rebounds a game while shooting 44-percent from the field and 31-percent from three-point range.   After graduating from CSUB in 2014 with a business administration degree (marketing concentration), Barnes began his coaching career at Costa Mesa High School in Costa Mesa, Calif. He was the head coach of the frosh/soph team in 2014-15 before being named head coach of the Perris High School boys’ varsity team, where he led the Panthers to an 18-6 record and an 8-2 mark in league play. The Panthers also appeared in the Division 2AA CIF semifinals, where they fell to eventual champion Ayala. Barnes and his wife Erika have four children: Andrew, Soraya, Ethan, and Brandon II.

Malika Glover

Assistant Coach

Malika Glover is in her first season at Cal State Bakersfield in Fall of 2025, serving the Roadrunner women's basketball team as an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. Glover brings extensive experience in recruiting, player development -- particularly with perimeter players -- and scouting, all while CSUB’s recruiting efforts. Glover arrived in Bakersfield after five years in the Horizon League, spending the 2024-25 season at Milwaukee and the four prior at Youngstown State, where she helped lead the Penguins to 66 wins, a 24-win campaign in 2021-22, a Horizon League Regular Season Championship, and a WNIT appearance. Glover also served as video coordinator and assistant recruiting director at South Dakota, contributing to a 30-2 record and a No. 11 national ranking during the 2019-20 season. A former standout student-athlete at Northern Kentucky, she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees while helping NKU reach the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament title game.

Fa-Ko-Fieme'a (Me'a) Hafoka-Latu

Assistant Coach

Fa-Ko-Fiem'a (aka Me'a) Hafoka-Latu is in her second season at Cal State Bakersfield in Fall of 2025, serving the Roadrunner women's basketball team as an Assistant Coach. Hafoka-Latu began her career in collegiate athletics as a student-athlete for the San Jose State Women's Basketball Team, playing as a Spartan from 2016-2020. She led as the team captain and was coached by Bakersfield's Ari Wideman. From there she became a graduate assistant at her alma mater, helping with everything from operations and administrative tasks to recruiting. In 2022, Hafoka-Latu earned a spot on the staff at SJSU, taking over as the team's video coordinator. After spending the season there, she became the manager of the Santa Clara women's basketball program. Continuing to master her skills, she was responsible for all aspects of operations, from day-to-day operations to the team budget.

Erika Warren

Assistant Coach

Erika Warren is in her first season at Cal State Bakersfield in Fall of 2025, serving the Roadrunner women's basketball team as an Assistant Coach. Warren most recently served as an assistant coach at Emporia State University, where she played a key role in recruiting top-tier talent and enhancing individual player performance through specialized skill development and advanced game preparation. Her contributions included leading scouting efforts, creating individualized workout plans, and supporting student-athletes’ mental wellness. Prior to her time at Emporia State, Warren spent two successful seasons at Clarendon College. There, she was instrumental in boosting team performance by implementing effective training programs and recruiting strategies. She also stepped into a leadership capacity during the head coach's absence, maintaining a high level of practice intensity and continuity in player development. As a former standout student-athlete, Warren played guard for the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), where she helped lead the Miners to an NCAA Tournament appearance. She also earned All-Region and All-Conference honors at Midland College, where she helped the Lady Chaps secure a Region Championship. Her standout career began at the high school level, where she was recognized as a McDonald’s All-American nominee.
